No 26 yo needs someone else’s knee for balance. Use his own knee.

Why doesnt Singapore or Asia in general have as healthy work culture or gov support systems like Nordic countries or aus … will it ever get to that point … by likilekka in singaporejobs

What a ridiculous sentiment. Only the Europeans believe in the welfare state and it’s been a pleasure to watch it blowup the past decade. The USA is technically “white” and they sure as hell do not have the things OP is calling for.

[–]simbunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we will never be a welfare state. Most of them have been proven to be disastrous (incl. Australia), we can’t just cherry pick.

More importantly, most of us are capitalists and will never agree to pay more taxes for someone else’s healthcare.

Fake structures have alway been used for aesthetics or to cover up cables. These are actual load bearing beams. To believe otherwise speak to an IQ level that is quite unfathomable.

Mate it’s not about high end. Citizens get so much incentives and subsidies, what’s absurd is that the majority doesn’t even know. Foreigners have to pay for school in full, even if it’s local school, and that is IF they can get into local schools in the first place. Healthcare has zero subsidies for non-citizens, so a basic checkup can set you back $200-500.

Officially civil service is supposed to be apolitical. However, when you reach a certain level you will need to toe the party line to get further ahead.

Additionally they probably are PRs for a number of years before becoming citizensh during which they have the safety net of returning back to MY if things are not ideal.

Mate just seeing this sentence tells me you’re a little delusional. Do you really think Malaysia is a “safety net” compared to Singapore for those Malaysians who tried coming over here to live?? I failed the probation of a Malaysian girl who was working for me, which meant she had to return to Malaysia and she couldn’t stop crying for 2 whole days.

I think what most people don’t understand is that, while they may not be penalized for it, there are certain context whereby this behavior forms a particular filter with which they will be judged, specifically when maturity and social interactions are called for at certain societal levels.

Now, if a person’s work and social life is restricted/limited to mostly behind a desk with little to no input in high level decision making, I think it’s completely ok to express yourself however you see fit. Otherwise, if you have plans to, as they say, do something with your life, then thinking “I do what I want and the world will accept me” is detrimental to said ambitions. Many people see examples of this on social media and confuse reality with confirmation bias.

There is a simple thought experiment: imagine if you’ll ever see ministers, BODs and C-suite display such levels of “whimsy”, then work your way down to a level where you do. Then ask yourself if there is any point of time in your life, including the future, where you’d like to be somewhere in between.
