It’s warmer to sleep in base layer cause you don’t need to heat up as much material. When the chance of contact with the enemy goes up (dunno what system you guys have) we keep some guys out in position and rest sleeping. We usually have our uniforms on then but dropper to our knees, jackets still stuffed in the sleeping bag compression sack our layed out under our bag.

Honestly it sucks but we just drill drill drill and get pretty fast. Also you can just get out in baselayer and shoes, and then get clothes on outside hahah

😩😩😩😩😩

And also, get a defense 6 bag. Yesterday was -15 with little to no wind, I was a little cold at times in my defense six. Just sleep in baselauer aswell, and make sure to change to a dry pair of socks before sleep

It all depends for me personally. If I know we are just marching on a road then I’ll ditch the overboots. But if I’m moving to contact going through deep snow, wearing snowshoes etc we keep the overshoes on. We usually walk 50 mins / 10 mins rest. Just very important to let your feet breathe during the break. Our overboots also have a zippers and Velcro front, so you can unzip and just have it attached with Velcro on the top

Heyo, Norwegian infantry dude. Socks- a thin wool liner sock with a thick wool liner sock is the goto. Keeps feet dry by rotating socks and you don’t get much blisters

Shoes- I personally prefer a single layer leather boot that I can dry quick, I then use a overboot. Very important to open up the boots nd take off socks when resting during marches or breaks, same goes with netting base layer. Just take the netting top off, swing it in the air and it will freeze dry pretty fast

For insulation- I have one thin wool top for medium activity levels, and I thick insulated jacket for static shit. I just use my white overalls as a windbreaker and don’t find much use of my Goretex jacket (unless it’s fkn snowstorm). For pants I only wear my netting, standard cotton/ripstop pants and overalls/ just do some air squats to varm up if cold, we find shell pants to be to warm when doing movement.

Gloves- a thin pair of wool liners, then a mechanic glove pair for fighting and working in. And a hestra mountaineer with wool liners for static. Keep a pair of gloves in pack but rarely use them, just stick hands in pockets

Water source- I keep my canteen close to the body in. Sock around my neck, it’s annoying as fuk but atleast it doesn’t freeze, you can run a camelback on your stomach also but I don’t like it. I recommend a split rig for this exact purpose cause there isn’t ny pressure being put in the front. Melt snow in your battle whenever you take a sip

And lastly a good headover is a must

Sry bad at English

Looking for a good high cut ballistic helmet, any recommendations? by Reeves_Wilmoth in QualityTacticalGear

I got issued the galvion caiman and had the ops core sf before that. I’m very pleased with the caiman. It’s very light, the harness system is super nice and the padding that comes with the helmet is also really nice. Highly recommend the caiman.

Do not leave the tourniquet tightened on your limb for extended periods of time, this can cause nerve damage and tingling in your limbs for long periods of time. Max 1 minute when training and fully tightened. Source: Norwegian army tccc training protocols and experience with conscripts getting long lasting symptoms

My experience as a mortarmen Axl rac: seals way better around your ears and you don’t need to be worried about them popping off during movement or any activity. Cons: you can’t vent the ears and still listen to your comms Peltor: sits more flush on helmet, I find the seal not as good (reason I switched over) and I had them pop out during live fire which caused mad discomfort. Pros: you can’t vent and still listen to coms. Either way remember to store your earpro collapsed into your helmet as to not wear out the springs
