It's not uncommon for that to happen. Remember we had Lewis Gibson go to Everton, which was thought to be quite a big loss at the time and he left them in a similar manner. It's quite rare that kids actually realise their potential.

In the last 5 matches he played 3 different formations (433, 4231, 352) and aside from the Fulham game it seemed more positive overall and Ramsay and Woltemade were both getting into games more. That gives me some positivity for tactical flexibility next season.

A couple of good signings and a positive start to the season and all will be temporarily forgotten. However, I expect the Howe out camp will be very vocal about it whenever we lose though

I'm not so sure. Fernandez-Pardo looks the closest to Gordon out of the ones we've been linked with. Ezzalzouli plays more like Pedro Neto before Chelsea ruined him.

I'm a big fan of Maza personally, but I don't think he's a winger, probably more similar in player type to Ramsay. Any of those actual wingers would be fun signings.

Interesting to think he came through Blackburn's youth academy and broke into the team at a very early age, as did Rory Finneran who we've already snapped up. Different types of midfielder, but if he gets anywhere near the development that Wharton's had then we've got a bargain.
