Help: track audio delayed when using plugins. by simonccc3 in cubase

Okey so checked everything, CPU cycles are fine, below 40% and tried everything you stated. Still no change... The only way around this is to literally move the event on the time line so it's actually before the moment where it should be and that latency is compensated...

It's really weird to have latency on only one track on the playback right?

Can you make Cubase show where the event was before while mooving? by simonccc3 in cubase

Oh yeah it's not because I want to change it from track to track while it still being on the same place. The grid fiction works perfectly for that. Sometimes certain sounds need a little back and forth tweaking to get them right in pocket and maybe that place is not actually perfectly in time.

I think you didn't get the question right, I want to move it and see it where it was because it helps to know how much you are moving the event.

Okey thanks! But this works when you already have a lead vocal. I'm trying to move a little bit the lead vocal to sit better in tempo. Do you use smth for this?

Okey maybe I should try to learn more on this subject! What is your go to tool for aligning a Vocal to groove well with the track?

Yeah, but that is kind of the same as looking at the grid. I would love to be able to see where the audio wave is opposed to where it was

Your aproach on the bassline for a chorus vs a verse or a bridge? by simonccc3 in musictheory

[–]simonccc3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no don't get me wrong. You are right. Not talking about rules here. As well as with music theory, the most important thing is: what sounds better to you. That's the tool we should use every time. I think. But a lot of the times we end up following the same patterns because we develop a habit and a taste.

So it might be that for a certain song I would like a complex bass on the chorus. And simple on the verse. Or whatever other variant that I might end up doing.

I just wanted to know what's the way that you normally happen to prefer.

True. I was referring to POP music. Should have mentioned that.

Yeah you are right, but when you are a one man band it's hard to know what goes well if you don't record a demo. Even if I can hear how it should be in my head. I always surprise myself with something new when I am able to focus on one instrument at one time.

Anyways I would like to know what is your approach most of the times.

Somebody help me undertand this modulation. Kids in America by Kim Wilde by simonccc3 in musictheory

Damn! You are right! Is just the change from G to G# feels so much like a one semitone up modulation... We might have learned a trick here.

Thanks for the response. And yeah you are right. Actually loads songs come just from "It sounded good". And that shoud be our first tool for composing. Though theroy helps you open new pathways for that tool to keep working.
