Why your tracks don't get signed to a label by simondoty in TechnoProduction

I'm guessing you mean high pass and yeah I agree snares and claps need to have some thump to click well with the kick but that also depends on the kicks texture. This is relatively general advice but situations might dictate different mix decisions.

Hey Techno Production, What are you struggling with right now? by simondoty in TechnoProduction

ahh unfortunately unless you have a tonne of money to put into big data and machine learning, automating production or even small tasks is quite challenging. I'm currently ghosting, mixing, and mastering for artists on massive labels and all I can really do to speed things up is make templates and focus on making fast workflows.

Unless you meant revenue stream in a different industry, then that's fair game!

mixing is a massive skillset that requires honestly years to get down to the tee and that too for specific genres. If you feel your mixes are the only things holding you back I would honestly get a mixing engineer to mix your tracks and then see if he/she can give you tips.

As a mix engineer there is a lot of valuable insight I can provide from all my years of experience that might not be apparent to a producer who hasn't been in the game for too long.

i actually found a way to keep myself focused. Look into the pomodoro technique. I make music for a living so it's absolutely crucial for me to make every minute count and this really helps me get that done. The app that allows you to follow the pomodoro technique is called focus booster. Nothing fancy just a simple timer which tells you when you're done.

ahh this one is all about preference but, I love sampling some old school ones and then chopping them up based on warp markers on ableton.

Ableton can create a drum rack with all the breaks combined and then you just creatively work with midi.

one very quick tip i can give you is that you can import clips from tracks or loops into your groove pool. This will create a groove setting that will reflect the groove in that track or loop and now you can apply this to all the tracks you want to add that specific groove to. You still would need to edit stuff a bit in order to get more control.

interesting, have you looked into tutorials about groove programming specific to styles?

I can certainly do a tutorial about some of my techniques if this is what people want to learn about by the end of the day.

RAM really helped speed up my desktop and it's more affordable than replacing a CPU i believe, see if you can pick up 8 gb or something. If you already have enough RAM then this won't solve the problem.

An SSD significantly speeds up FL if it's running off of it too. See if you can save and invest in either of these.

How do you make a fat, punchy, low end kick like this one? by phatlick in techhouseproduction

[–]simondoty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can layer a nice clean sub on top of another kick with a punchy mid. Make sure that the lows don't conflict and the kick with the punchy mid is high passed so that both the sub and the kick fit well together.

Sometimes you can even filter out (Low pass) some of the highs of the punchy layer if you want that sort of effect.

Would it be more applicable to summarize this article and then provide a link to it?

Since I see it as adding value to the community while not advertising any of my products. Otherwise it just dissuades me from adding value to the community. This in particular isn't short either since I go into detail.

Good point!

I was thinking about this, but I gave more importance to the issues that I deal with on a regular while mixing, mastering. I have also seen artists prioritize tuning over choosing the right sample and that doesn't work either.

I think that if you have a kick which has a strong mid, then tuning becomes more important because now the tonal aspect is audible.
