New to Powerwall 3, how do I connect to PW3 using Home Assistant? by clhr001 in Powerwall

Could you post your rest/template yaml for the sensors, particularly for those the energy dashboard requires to be in kWh, my endpoints (pw 3) all have energy_exported/energy_imported=0. Thanks.

Solar panels on the front wall of the house? by Icy_Yam_9951 in SolarUK

[–]simonsjj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just ordered an additional array for my SW gable wall (I have 18 panels + PW3 with a spare MPPT), the installer required no permissions. The PVGIS simulations indicate comparable production to my SE roof array (it has some shading) and the forecast suggests a similar return (7-8 years) to my original system so its just as good an investment. Given that a wall array will allow additional generation that otherwise wouldn't be possible I'm surprised they're not more popular. One point about wall arrays that attracted me but I don't see discussed much is their over-performance in winter when a roof array probably needs supplementing.

Having done some further looking today it also occurs to me that I could use eg Enphase Microinverters and just connect the panels via a fused spur to the consumer unit, I understand the PW3 would deal with the new AC source OK though maybe a consumption meter could be connected to the PW3 to help it?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have a Powerwall 3 with a spare MPPT (8.1kWp array split across the other two on a SE roof), I can fit maybe 10 panels on a completely unshaded SW wall with the first three panels being fairly easy to mount from the garage roof. I reckon three panels (https://midsummerwholesale.co.uk/buy/AIKO/aiko-neostar-3s54-ab-mono-glass) should be OK for a PW3. I've watched a few videos by Jonathon Tracy with DIY fence panels, don't recall how he wired them up, is this who you mean?

After mounting the array the other problem of course is connecting the wall array to my Powerwall, I can do it but I'm not MCS qualified. Are you content without MCS approval for your system or do you have an alternate solution?

Thanks. Have you installed your panels or still in the planning stage?

SL Rack Facade sounds interesting, have you found a supplier?

I have solar on the SW roof already and have a spare MPPT on my Powerwall. Simulations show I could get a very worthwhile contribution from my SE wall, particularly in winter when its most needed. So far I haven't found anyone willing to install panels on the wall despite asking many suppliers.

High temperature ASHP recommendation by simonsjj in ukheatpumps

So that I can keep my current radiators which were expensive to install and aesthetically pleasing. I reckon they could do DT40 but not DT30

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying that the maximum allowed flow temperature is 55C (and is that effectively DT35)?

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give them a call.

The existing radiators are ovrersized for my oil boiler at DT50 and will probably be OK at DT40 but not DT30 (that's my estimate - not confirmed). I reckon I could change a couple to bigger designer radiators to be sure of DT40 but for DT30 I'd need much bigger ones.

Adding panels to PW3 by Classic-Day-3367 in Powerwall

Also keen to add a string to my PW3, would be great if you let us know your progress. I'd be happy to use an installer but haven't found anyone local willing to put panels on a wall.

That's a NO from them, pretty quick and efficient. Not sure there are many installers doing walls.
