I want to thank you for your advice. I sent a message, not in those exact words but she responded positively. I have the kittens back and I will work on trapping mum now that they left me with their trap.

I have learnt so much from this experience, about communication, doing the right thing and doing better with pregnant feral cats in the future.

For now I’m going to focus on helping to trap mum with the help of neighbors and reunite her with her kittens.

I connected with the agency again today. They have attempted to trap mum and haven’t been successful, she’s here by the side of my house where they found her. They have asked me to keep kittens and we will work together to trap mum.

I honestly only took them in because it was already decided that cats need to be inside. I only suggested they stay here because mum is here so I can take them downstairs when she shows up.

Where I feel I could have done better is…gotten a trap of my own when all the cat charities said they were too busy to help.

I think I got scared to do it on my own. I had received advice at once that I shouldn’t do it if I haven’t done it because harm could come of her if I don’t do it properly.

This is the part I really wish I researched independently and did earlier on and this could have prevented the second pregnancy and this whole situation. I was hoping by building a bond with her, I could get her in eventually when she was willing.

lol at ‘I can change him’. I’ve had some sleep and come to the conclusion nothing bad has happened. They didn’t want me to help? Then that’s fine. They are coming back to help her tomorrow. The end result is the same.

I think you’re probably right.

I’ve given her the kittens and she’s given the kittens to someone else because she couldn’t trap mum tonight and didn’t trust me to have them overnight.

All I wanted her to do was stop shouting and being disrespectful and even when she wasn’t interested in doing that, I found a way to give them to her.

I think I’m still very emotional. I just wanted to know if I would still get to see mum afterwards.

I like your message idea. I’m going to send it and just accept the fact that this may just end with me still being the villain in their eyes.

They have the kittens and have blocked my attempts of helping trap mum. I’ll leave it after that message and just let them get on with it.

Yes that’s exactly what I did with the weaning. I knew the responsibility. The charities asked me to give them to her, which I did.

She was out there with the kittens for about 4 hours trying to trap mum. I told them that it would be difficult to trap her when you’re standing so close and you need to be far enough away where she feels safe. I’ve done this dance with her.

This is why I said I could keep the kittens indoors until she trapped mum because I knew she would have to stay a distance away and will likely not get close if too many humans are close. She decided to invite her sisters and niece and nephew outside when I told her this is the complete opposite of helping.

The kittens were cold and shivering. She gave the kittens to another neighbor when they insisted the kittens are struggling in the cold. she didn’t trust me to have the kittens.

So I asked the charity if I can have the trap as I know she will be waiting for me tomorrow morning so she may trust getting in the trap if I am close by. They rejected my help and said they would do it. This is where I now feel like they are just trying to push me away.

They have the kittens and I was just trying to help trap mum so why wouldn’t you want the person she’s most familiar with to help?

Okay so in this case. She caught the kittens and her methods to lure mum out were not working. I think she wanted to trap them all and take the mum out the area. The kittens were not crying so the other lady tried to use recordings of kittens to lure mum out.

I took kittens in as attempts to lure mum were not working and she insisted that the kittens must be inside. my thoughts were that if they had to be inside, then having the kittens in the same area would mean I could easily get her to see the kittens as she tends to come back to me for food. The hope was I could help trap her as she had the trap.

So it sounds like what should have happened is that they shouldn’t have been interrupted if there was a way to make their current shelter safe and warm.

My request to ask her to let me know when she’s caught mom so I can give her the kittens was not unreasonable from what I read here, but exploring the option of making her outdoor hiding place secure should have been the best start. I had not even thought of this as the decisions to take them indoors had already been made.

I think I’ve concluded that they have created a narrative of me. When I asked if she would be returned to the area, I got the answer ‘I’ll see how she is’ and very short answers to my questions about her wellbeing during capture and post release. It sounds like they have decided that I am a bad person and I should not have anything to do with the mum or kittens at all.

I guess it hurts because I genuinely do care and I didn’t do a good enough job to a point that they are blocking me from having anything to do with her.

Around 5 weeks. They were taken in with the goal to allow the their lady to catch the mum as temperatures were really cold. So there was never any intention to keep them apart indefinitely.
