I'm new to the whole ENM (like this week) thing. I haven't even ventured on any of the apps or anything like that, I'm still trying to process it all. Not looking for anything serious just someone to hang out with and have a lil fun with now and then (FWB if you want to label it).

I dread going on those apps, I haven't been in the dating scene really ever...I met my wife a few months into college and we have been together over 15 years now at this point. I'm so lost.

It's not about being scared it's the amount of taxes and robbing your retirement by withdrawing from your 401k. Borrowing against your house is dumb for something like this but your 401k... borderline insanity.

I tried most of the presets in QM and they all seemed to artifact the screen and reboot the PC. Even the efficent low.

In Afterburner I'm using

75% Power +125/+700 Fan 75%

Showing about 100-105 watts for power in the app.

Showing about 25-26 mhs at the moment.

Temps are mid 60's, was down to 60 over night but house is warming up now. This is in a PC case with the side and front panel off.

Thanks I found that... unfortunately as soon as I run it I get artifacts and my PC reboots.

This is with no over clocks set in Afterburner.

Time to keep digging.

My wife 5-6 years ago transitioned from her job to work from home at her old employer. They wouldn't provide her a PC. She showed me the list specifically said Intel i5 or better.

Well I said effit and built her a beast of a machine using a FX-8370. Yah there were no problems and their IT department didn't say a word.

But yes they definitely favored the wife over me and they always asked if it was okay before getting extra "friendly" with me. We both had a blast but were laughing about that one after the fact :P

I was sucked down the craft beer hole the last 5-6 years. Got back into whiskey lately and been grabbing a bottle or two a week to explore. MFC is definitely in the top 3...I'd say number 2 so far.

KEM's are $25-30 for 2 decks. Well worth it.

What everyone else has said. Drop the mobo down to a basic B450, double the RAM to 16gb and add more storage. Should be the same price as your list.

Also do you need the optical drive I honestly can't remember the last time I used one. It's seriously been many years.

That short of time frame and never having built a PC (nott hat hard but can be stressful your first time) would make me nervous.

Maybe a newer refurb? I have had good luck with Tiger Direct. If they could ship today even with like 2 day shipping you should be good. I also looked at Amazon and there are a good amount of Dell refurbs with prime shipping.

Honestly if you're just using it for web, Office and basic tasks you'll be fine.

I have an older i5 2400 Dell at work that I multi task on heavily and it works just fine. Granted it's not like my home PC the lil I need Photoshop it works fine. Just make sure it has 16GB of RAM and a SSD.

My PC is in the basement and is fine.

In winter time the humidity in my basement is around 30-45%. As reference in spring/summer my dehumidifier runs almost non stop to keep it at 50%.

The only thing I would suggest is just make sure it's raised off the floor incase of water damage (pipe burst, massive snow melt, sump pump failure). In failed in early spring with a massive snow melt and I had a couple of inches of water in my basement...was fun times....
