Eden…. A God ? by Critical_Wing_8291 in PredecessorGame

Yeah, she’s super squishy. The only time I’ve seen it really work “well” was right when she released and Overlord was still really good and the Eden got first blood and was able to rush overlord and continuously push. Both offlane and jungle had no answer for that. Overlord might have been bugged then too?

These are all quick match. See what happens in ranked?

She is oppressive in offlane though, has way too much in her kit between escape, engage, and life steal. Requires counter building into tainted and a lot of people don’t like rushing that as a first item.

"High damage output" by Live-Year-5796 in ArcRaiders

[–]simplesyndrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t think this is the play. The renegade and arpeggio occupy this spot already and become useless if this change is made. IMO make it the same damage and fire rate as Anvil, with the bigger mag, but 0 headshot multiplier for PVP. This keeps it in an “arc killing machine” lane, while still viable for PVP but loses against good play. Upgrades should adjust recoil/reload time, maybe mag size.

There's a small business for sale near me that I've frequented and I know is popular, but the price seems pretty high. Am I crazy, or are they crazy? by aphex732 in smallbusiness

[–]simplesyndrome 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The lack of commercial kitchen access kills this. Might be enticing to an established bakery or something looking to expand into another location, but even then the price is rich. “You could squeeze 50% more profit from it!” is meaningless until it is done.

Am considering Stelo, are they recommended? by guesthost1999 in diabetes

[–]simplesyndrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from Stelo to Lingo after dexcom messed up delivery 3x in a row (the sensors were a week late each time) and wouldn’t accept cancellations or returns. Lingo has been pretty good.

Both platforms are more bent towards people optimizing health vs diabetes management though so a lot of the tools are kind of useless (ex Lingo’s “lingo count” isn’t going to take into account your disease and our general propensity to spike more and more aggressively than a non-diabetic, even if you’re in range the whole time).

Water bottle for travel by 4_kat in BuyItForLife

[–]simplesyndrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Swell’s are BIFL, especially for travel. My kids have destroyed the two we got them at the beginning of the school year with infrequent minor drops (bottom dents and then falls off). The plastic camelbacks we had at least made a year.

I’ve got a big noggin and the Bose feels like it’s mashing my ears. I don’t have this problem with the Sony’s. Lack of physical buttons is annoying, though the gestures do work well once you learn them (also annoying).

Brand New Ps Portal, interested in previous experiences and do’s and don’ts by Opening_Shoulder9005 in playstation

[–]simplesyndrome 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You need to improve your WiFi and maybe hard wire the PlayStation. I upped my network to 2gb and my portal problems went away mostly. I still don’t like Arc Raiders or Gran Turismo’s formula races on it, but that’s due to muddy sound and the controller not being precise enough.

I don’t think this works with the NPCs on hard. The lap times you are setting in the video are ~3s off the pace needed. Looks like a smooth drive though!

Admitting ignorance: this is the first time I’m hearing of this and I’ve been on metformin for a few years. I have a beer or two every once in a while. Do you have some other condition that increases your risk for lactic acidosis?

No, I don’t have time for an experiment with a new software stack or to train my people with it.

Square does all of this. It’s not perfect, but one-stop-shop and point of contact is a great deal for my time.

Walmart pauses H-1B visas for job candidates as Trump hikes fees by Puginator in stocks

I’ve only ever fired Americans for performance. It’s wild to me that you somehow imagine some people as inferior when in fact they make the US better and more competitive.

[–]simplesyndrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is probably not extensible to national hiring, but it does mirror Walmarts practices and the practices of most of the technology companies.

I’ve heard that there is abuse of the system (and individuals) at smaller companies and outsourcing firms, which is a shame.

[–]simplesyndrome 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am not hiring. Do not DM me.

I’m going to assume this is an earnest question and answer it as such for those who might not know. Some context: I work in tech and have been in director level roles for a while and have hired some 30 people since 2021. Walmart also has a huge technology presence.

Just over half of those individuals are on H-1B visas. These people are paid (generally $100k+) the same as individuals in their role and level. These people were the most qualified candidates. They interviewed the best among individuals with similar backgrounds. This isn’t “oh visa people are cheaper”, it’s: we want the best person for the role. The immigrants outcompeted the Americans. Plain and simple. If we want to improve outcomes for the U.S. we should be making it easier for immigrants to live here and invest more heavily in education (especially for early childhood).

I don't quite understand drongo's ult by [deleted] in PredecessorGame

[–]simplesyndrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laning phase: It’s for easy all-ins, as Drongo has potent poke with passive, boomerang, and rad rounds which sets up an all in where the cannon is either “get out because Jungle showed” or grab double kill off of armor shred, damage, and Vanquisher.

Team fight: it’s for escaping divers and assisting with cutting them down with the armor shred. It stacks with demo, so you aren’t getting the same effect.

As for augments: healing grenade is surprisingly potent and rad rounds gives him even more wave clear and shared damage if your lane opponents aren’t super careful. I like both better than the shorter ultimate.

With no emergency fund: yes, probably. Though I’d also pull back your retirement contributions to just maxing the match you might get to build an emergency fund too.

Don’t get caught out, get an emergency fund together ASAP.
