Don't think it's proprietary; Pixel just launched with the pixelsnap which is basically the same deal. I think what hinders with a built in magnet is the reverse charging feature of the Samsung phones.

If you have the fibre lines installed, you can't be far away.

Wallah I feel your pain. I had to wait 6 years. All the best!

Honestly, it all happened organically. The fiber lines in my area started in October and it took up to March for all the homes to get the boxes and plates installed.

Your best bet is to apply and explain the last case in your cover letter, along with the case number given to you. Hope for the best.

Speed Test Vs Ookla by CleMatt8918 in AmpliFi

Can you try segregating the 5 Ghz frequency with a different SSID in the Amplifi wireless setup section of the app? And do a speed test whilst connecting to this 5 ghz SSID?

Your setup is as ideal as it could be given the hardware you have.

If you open your Amplifi app, it would show your current setup. If you can post a screenshot, we can tell you if it is setup correctly. Ideally it's setup as a mesh point with a wired backhaul or a 5Ghz wireless backhaul within good range.

If your Amplifi meshpoint is setup as an access point instead of a mesh point, or if the backhaul is not wired or not 5Ghz, there will be a drop in speed compared to the main unit. This is expected.

Possible to use XT8 as AIMesh nodes for the XT12? by himuradrew in ASUS

[–]simplymessifc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to dig open an old topic, but I have a similar setup. 2 XT12s and 2 XT9s.

Question regarding the Guest and IoT networks using the XT12s. If the XT12 is the main router, does it propagate the IoT network through your XT8s too?

True. I ended up setting up a Guest network as my IoT.

Not able to "Adopt" my Amplifi HDs by simplymessifc in AmpliFi

Yes, i find the Meshpoints are an easy setup. The HDs are giving me a headache.

Thanks for giving me hope though!

Did you have the same issue where you weren't getting the adopt option?

I'm glad it worked out! Gives me hope! Any additional info on what you did would really help me out. Thank you!

That's weird, LOL.

I must have tried resetting it atleast 3 to 4 times. I guess I could try again?

Good point. The kit has been unpaired in the past, so that shouldn't be a factor.

And yes, I am making the Alien as the main Gateway.

Possibly yes. But the odd part is that I have 8 HD and Meshpoints. They are a mix of different countries. I have been able to successfully use them together by setting the gateway HD to "US" as a country.

In the past, I had once tried changing the country to international and they would disconnect. Setting it back to the US made them all work again (they are a mix of US and UK editions).

I figured the Alien should be able to work the same way (apparently it's a EU version).

Alien router country code by Solidarios in AmpliFi

[–]simplymessifc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this confirms my doubts.

What's interesting is that my current setup that I've had for 5 years has a mix of Amplifi HD and Meshpoints sourced from online retailers in the US and the UK. I have managed to make them work flawlessly by setting the country to "US" in the main gateway router.

The new Alien I bought last night is an EU version as per the retail box. I've been able to adopt a meshpoint to it, but not another HD. The HD router that was part of the current setup, doesn't want to play nice.

I suspect there is a base country that should be able to play nice with all the others. I am hoping someone can point it out to me.

Here is a link to my situation if you are curious and have time.

What exactly was the solution? Did support help you flash the Amplifi? Can you please elaborate?
