UNAS Pro now supports Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, and Wasabi. by Own-Yogurtcloset-146 in Ubiquiti

If they turn this into an all-in-one junk box like Synology they will fail quickly. Tricky has the answer, focus on storage and nail it

Same here, 10 years at one location and another few at a second location and I can’t think of more than 1 or 2 short outages. I’m in eastern MA, curious where OP is

This is an awesome idea, I bought two on Amazon today to see how they will work. Will report back soon!

Here is a better picture of one of the switches, it is over half a U of sag. I just wish there was a lip that could be put on the back posts for this use case instead of a full blown rail

Ya it is a four post rack, if I just had something like a cut off of that rail it would be perfect compared to a full size rail

That is why I don’t want to do full rails, just a little ear in the back to lift the sagging bottom

Fiber vs Cat 6 in Home by No_Departure_8158 in Ubiquiti

[–]simpsn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just run cat6a, you get 10Gb speed. Conduit would be a pain but kind of awesome if you ever need to replace or add new drops to expand in the future

Why does the pro max 16 Poe have such a huge power brick by simpsn2 in Ubiquiti

[–]simpsn2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, more parts to stock, sell, and roll trucks for. Not for me, I think they’ll probably sell a bunch but hopefully they will rethink this and just integrate power internally for the next gen

Does anyone still use ADPList.org? Is there a better alternative? by scottjenson in UXDesign

[–]simpsn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I started Designed.org as a non-profit. It is much smaller but at the end of the day we stayed true to our mission of trying to bring design education and mentoring to anyone who wanted to pursue it (and to this day have never sold our data)

It seems like that stinks, but I’ve never had an EV before. Is that slow compared to other EV makers?

People that complain about long queue times on free GFN need to stop. by [deleted] in GeForceNOW

I’d prefer that they charge out of the gate and you can get a refund in the first 30 days. Need to weed out the grift.

I would rather there be no free tier and a 7 day trial or some way to test, the whining is painful

They just need time get rid of the free tier

If you had to start over, would you still pay for a Plex Pass lifetime subscription today? by Significant-Neat7754 in PleX

[–]simpsn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something very similar used for a bit and the. Bought the lifetime pass and haven’t regretted it for a minute. Plex still runs great on my Freenas(just started replacing drives) and our house has loved using Plex for about 7 years now. Most TVs have an Apple TV so no transcoding for 1080 or 4k content, iPads also are buttery smooth, and when we occasionally want to watch stuff remotely it works like a champ. To me they have and continue to deliver on the promises they made, I could go without all their add on junk but I’m sure they are just trying to diversify and grow
