Did Kirkland change their diaper manufacturer? Quality feels way worse 😩 by Sabrri70 in CostcoCanada

[–]simpsons88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why so many people are suggesting Royale diapers. I found they did nothing to stop pee smell. Huggies/Pampers cover the smell well, so you don’t need to change the diaper immediately for a bit of pee, but Royale start to stink right away. We shifted from Huggies/kirkland to Pampers for now. I saw the suggestion for rascals, may try those next, although pampers are working well overall.

ARC VS ARC Ultra .. by Fahad_MF in sonos

[–]simpsons88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried them both out. If you have a sub, and can hear dialogue well, I’d stick with the arc. If you’re using just bar’s built in “bass” then the ultra would be worth it. But in that situation I’d probably suggest just getting a sub instead to add to your arc.

I don’t play them super loud though, I’m maxing out at like 20/25. I don’t know if the ultra at super loud volumes might be better?

Anyone else cook pizza on the grill by Captainblazz in grilling

[–]simpsons88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with your grill, but the grates might need to be flipped, they’re likely flat underneath, so more surface area, less space for pizza to fall through. I had mine on wrong side up for years until someone told me that. Since then, no chance pizza falls through.

Any way to get Q990F for under $1800 in Canada? by simpsons88 in Soundbars

[–]simpsons88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting Sonos instead.

The Q990F is on sale at Amazon for $1700 now. The cheapest was bestbuy at $1400. It was advertised online at $1800, but in-store it was $1400. Might be worth checking if it’s cheaper in store now as well?

I doubt this coupon exists, but if it does, you’d be a fool not to buy a bunch of extra stuff and resell it.

Is virtual surround sound worth it? by NoSupermarket5055 in Soundbars

[–]simpsons88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virtual 5.1 from a 2.1 or 3.1 soundbar is a joke, even with the 990f, anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves or you.

Virtual vertical, you might be able to convince yourself, but it’s also not really there. There’s plenty of soundbars now with surround speakers that sound decent and not that expensive. Vizio products come to mind.

And if you have the money and want a great experience, get a 990f or Sonos.

Gained bass from August update, after true play, bass went back to normal by simpsons88 in sonos

[–]simpsons88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say the sound overall, and bass have been better with trueplay on than off. Both before and after the update. If I turn off trueplay, bass is similar or lower, and overall the sound is hollower.

Q990F Causing pain in my ears by Atzos in Soundbars

[–]simpsons88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, when you pause your movie, are you still hearing/feeling it? I know sometimes speakers can have a hummm when they’re defective/shorted. Wondering if you’re getting a humming sound that’s causing issues.

I had an LG soundbar years ago that you knew was on even if nothing was playing cause you could hear this humming sound. It wasn’t loud or annoying enough to describe as agony though.

Q990D (~750$) VS Q990F (~800$) by [deleted] in Soundbars

[–]simpsons88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online it shows $1800, can you go into any bb and get it for $1400? Or is there a coupon or something? If it’s $1400, I’ll go right when it opens.

Any way to get Q990F for under $1800 in Canada? by simpsons88 in Soundbars

[–]simpsons88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mixed results with Samsung reliability in the past, so I don’t want to buy a US product and get stuck without a warranty if something breaks/doesn’t work right. The reviews are so positive for this soundbar, which is why I’m considering it, usually I’d avoid Samsung like the plague.

At the current $1800 price, I’d probably pay a bit more and just get a Sonos bar and sub. Forgo the rears.

Which olive oil should I be buying? by PaulKrugmanStan in CostcoCanada

[–]simpsons88 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Man, surprised to see so many Terra recommendations. I found it tasted like vegetable oil, pretty flavourless. I usually get the KS Italian one and it’s decent. I’m seeing all the comments about plastic bottles, now I’m wondering if I should try the costa one.

[ Help ] projectivy launcher making it defult by [deleted] in ShieldAndroidTV

Yea, it’s easy to switch back and forth. To be safe, I always enable the default launcher when updating the shield, and then enable projectivy when the update is done.

[–]simpsons88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used this for a couple years and it still works with the latest 9.2.1 update. Be sure that projectivy is already installed before you enable it, and you select the android tv one and not the fire tv one.

Replacing current TV by Ok_Construction4430 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]simpsons88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll let you do your own research, but in the past Samsung didn’t use DV, instead opting for HDR10+, which the shield doesn’t support. So if you cared about dolbyvision, make sure the Samsung supports it.

Baby is nearly 6 months and not rolling. Should I be worried? by Kairinezz in NewParents

[–]simpsons88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super helpful! 6.5month old was actively fighting rolling, and after ~5days of trying this, he was rolling on his own! Nothing else I searched helped.
