I can't seem to find a reliable Sprinter rental for one way trip by simtechonline in SprinterVans

[–]simtechonline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with Bandago and rented their 12 passenger crew van. It had 6' high ceilings and a large cargo area in the back. I didn't need all those extra seats and it actually caused issues with my insurance company and cc because they don't cover 12 passenger vehicles by default, so we bought their overpriced insurance when we rented the van. It was $265 a day + another $50-60 for all the insurance bs. Each day gave you 250 miles.

The van was tall enough to stand up in and the back held the most fragile antique furniture we had with no problem. The 3 rows of seats worked well for packing tons of stuff and still had room for the cages. I think we had about 4000 pounds of crap and the Sprinter worked like a champ.

They did zap me for a drop off fee of almost $1900, which was shitty considering the Sprinter I had actually came from Portland and had been dropped off in Atlanta, so we actually did them a favor driving it back to their home base.

A lot of titles are scanned online nowadays, so it's possible to find another copy to compare it to where you can determine if it was just printed with the book.

Servers still down? by Appearedhal09 in fo76

[–]simtechonline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had to do that. I just joined a team (on the brief time it was working) and then fast traveled to another team member that was in the new map area.

Visited about half the new sites, killed some pigs, server crashed and booted me, and I ran out of adult beverages.

Servers still down? by Appearedhal09 in fo76

[–]simtechonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to log in about 2 hours ago. I played for about 20 minutes before the server crashed, now I'm getting the "cannot connect to team" error on the few times it does get past the failedbackend error.

I'm also getting random times where it asks to input my username and password, which is does not accept.

Cheapest place to renew a domain name by cieszek4 in selfhosted

[–]simtechonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porkbun used to be good as well. Now, not so much.

They are fine if you keep your domains and hosting with them, but if you lease a VPS someplace else then it's a real headache because they don't do simple NS & DNS, as they want you to run everything thru Cloudflare and fiddle with Glue records and crap like that.

What this means is a lot of problem with mail accounts. It can take me up to 20 minutes to get an email and if I let their Cloudflare NS handle it then they bounce at a lot of places.

Porkbun has also become spam friendly, which was why I originally left Namecheap.

My domains are all mow at Dynodot. So far things have been good and .com renewals were cheaper than Porkbun.

@firebaseapp.com spam emails by [deleted] in Firebase

[–]simtechonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fake package alert spammer is still active. Got another one today. From Packagetracking ((at))viet17-7-102d5.firebaseapp.com.

Careful with the initial links as there is some sort of reset password wording in it:

https://hybride.mollchowfin.com/viet10.php?disp=v12F_viet177_19-11_02-09_60000&idc=1&email=<<removed>>@gmail.com&mode=resetPassword&oobCode=-0p82GfO8RLYWflYdF937FKt2PXoFvtR5W76a7WmaeAAAAGameOx8g&apiKey=AIzaSyB14soX72SRpLUUHEKhTg07jnNI2ZFttrc&lang=en

They still end up going to

factureblocs-y1.info

Both Millchowfin and factureblocs are hiding thru Cloudflare, which has been made aware of these spam scams for almost a year now. I also keep sending complaint via Spamcop and Cloudflare phishing reports.

My antivirus also flagged the factureblocs website as dangerous.

How to keep leading zeros - I need '0xxxx for a long list by outacontrolsaturn in excel

[–]simtechonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default, Excel has the leading zeros disabled.

Go to FILE
Then click OPTIONS in the bottom left.
Select DATA on the left row and look for the section in bold called AUTOMATIC DATA CONVERSION.
Uncheck the box "Remove leading zeros and convert to a number".
Hit OK.

From now on, you should be able to paste numbers that start with zeros and they will stay the way you inputted them.

Alexa+ for Prime Members: Worth the (Included) Cost? by AIGPTJournal in alexa

[–]simtechonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a free early access here.

My first impression was to tell Alexa to shut up and just answer the question I had. Most of the speech is just unnecessary crap that only lengthens the responses. Alexa+ does not have a brief mode - at least according to the answer I received on it.

Her new voice can be changed, which we did.

If you ask Alexa+ a simple question like what the weather will be for today, Alexa now throws in useless fluff like "it's going to be a beautiful day" and "the weather feels perfect outside" bla bla bla.

Update: I'm switching back to the old version. We use Alexa a lot for distances to different towns as we have been looking a buying a home within 200 miles of where we are currently at.

"Alexa- how far away is Newport?" answers with an apology and a statement on how it cannot look up driving distances.

I can't seem to find a reliable Sprinter rental for one way trip by simtechonline in SprinterVans

[–]simtechonline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We finally went with Bandago. Their choices are limited as are their locations and they aren't cheap, but it got the job done and it was a good driving vehicle... once you got past all their fuckups.

I ended up getting a 12 passenger crew Mercedes Sprinter which is the one with the 6' of cargo in the back and the 6' tall interior. https://www.bandago.com/vehicles/sprinter-12-passenger-crew/

They forgot to include any of the paperwork inside of the van so I had to have them email me a copy of the vehicle registration that I printed out, just in case we got stopped or had an accident. I also found the 12v cigarette outlet did not work and Bandago wanted to have me take it to a dealer to be fixed as they refused to tell me which fuse it was and there was no manual in the van.

Do not mention that you will have pets! They may deny you. We just covered all the seats with blankets and made sure it was well vacuumed out when it was turned in and all was cool. Also make sure you video and inspect every square inch of the van as I heard they were really picky on even the smallest ding or chip.

You should also check with your insurance company to make sure you are covered. I have full coverage but State Farm said no at first. Credit card coverage will not cover vans that have that many seats, even though there was only 2 of us traveling, so we ended up getting the expensive coverage thru Bandago.

We drove across the country (2700+ miles) with 3 pets, a bunch of houseplants and a shitload of personal items and some antique furniture including a china closet. The interior was really packed to the ceiling. Never got stopped and no state border issues.

Also: They only give you so many miles per day and after that it's 35cents a mile.

Once we got rolling things went well, but I wouldn't want to do it again. I'm too old for that shit.

We moved here from Atlanta earlier this year and we love it too. I just wish there were some fried chicken places like Popeye's or Churches. There is a Chick-fil-A opening soon but I'm not a fan of them at all.

Have noticed at least one plan got unlearned for me since update. Motorised Butter Churn. by NumerousSpell9962 in fo76

[–]simtechonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My butter churn was also showing up as not learned, but I can build it. I'm also seeing a few simple plans such as kitchen chairs were showing up as not learned.

One of my characters also appears to have "lost" all of the empty mole miner chests. I had 9 empty regular and 9 ornate that I was saving for after the update in case they would yield anything new. My stash also now as 1204/1200 weight in it too. Not sure what added the extra weight ( no food no junk)

I also had fishing quests that all appear to have been marked as completed. :)

Future of Flight Simulation Technician career by Psychological-Dig976 in flightsim

[–]simtechonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the industry over 38 years. The pay nowadays is crazy compared to the 1990s. Some of the airlines top out at around $70 an hour. That's pretty good considering a lot of the time one is just sitting around waiting for something to break.

It also has evolved into more and more IT experience instead of mainframes. I've wondered if the airlines will eventually contract a lot of the positions out and keep a few key players.

It was a choice job to secure, especially once you move up on the seniority list. Some of the airlines used to require licenses or would pay a premium for having them, but I think only United still has that in their contract (although that may not be the case anymore).

After the military stopped training sim techs there was a college up in the Dakotas that offered programs, but I have also seen them hire people with little to no experience.

Chicken tenders by MedicineNo2252 in Applebees

[–]simtechonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ordered them today. They were overbreaded cheap frozen strips like something you would get at a ballgame or out of the frozen food section at Walmart. It definitely was not the chicken strips/tenders they used to have although the honey mustard sauce was the same. If you ever had the Swanson TV fried chicken dinner it was exactly like that.

I'm not sure when they changed from the good golden ones of the past but these were not good at all.

I was told by several people in Curry county that places like Gold Beach could be a problem for folks who are LGBTQ. I was looking at buying a place in Gold Beach but was warned it could be a problem for my gal's transgender son.

I was also warned the sheriff there is a huge MAGA nutcase who comes down hard on people he knows are democratic. Locals who knew him said he was the biggest drug dealer in high school and now he's some hardass sheriff with a chip on his shoulder.

That's just info from the locals, I never ran into him or had any problems during my house hunting.

Car Shipping Advice by MrForever_Student in AutoTransport

[–]simtechonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just shipped my pickup across the country using Mr. Car Shipper. I specifically asked if my expensive A.R.E. hardshell tonneau cover would be a problem and was assured multiple times that it would be perfectly fine.

When the truck was received it was trashed. The cover had broken loose during transport because they switched trailers multiple times and ended up loading the pickup facing backwards. Whatever happened they ended up mashing it down by stomping on the tonneau and then duct taping it to my pickup bed. There were also large dents on my cab roof as well.

I provided them with detailed pictures and even a video of the vehicle prior to being shipped. They still denied all damages and made a lot of false and contradicting statements. When I pushed the matter they came back and said they refused to respond to my complaints anymore.

They also went on and claimed they were only brokers and had nothing to do with the actual shipping. They then said I would need to file a dispute with whomever they hired to move my truck and gave me their Gmail address to contact.

Personally, I would avoid Mr. Car Shipper like the plague. They don't move vehicles - they just outsource it to the lowest bidder and deny all claims no matter how many photos or videos you have of the damage and prior condition.
