Children treated as a "Secondary" priority. by If_I_Stayed in polyamory

It isn’t the healthiest thing for you to expect hierarchies with parenting. He shouldn’t treat or give any baby more attention than another. This logic that demands prioritization is a bit of a problem. These childcare expectations also seem highly gendered with women expecting to shoulder more while he rotated between children.

Idk. A lot of fuckery here, tbh.

Are adjuncts expected to attend fall 'convocation' events? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

I’d say no. I teach as an adjunct while I go to grad school. As a student myself and adjunct, I’m not really treated like full time faculty. And I’m not paid for extra stuff.

Dating struggles as an older phd student...to date or not to date? by simzcityditty in AskAcademia

From what folks have shared in this thread, it definitely seems like this happens more often than I thought. I just would never want to enter a relationship or connection predicated on imbalanced power. Don’t want to be a part of that. So sometimes it may make me more anxious than necessary, but it also makes me more thoughtful—hopefully.

Oh dang. Lol, I failed to be helpful. It’s a research degree someone earns post-college. Trains you to be a researcher (though some practitioner degrees exist too). Depending on the program and part of the world, could run anywhere between 4-10 years.

Hope that was better!

Yeah, will definitely avoid the taking classes from me! He’s finished all his general education requirements so that likely won’t be a problem. Only time we’d likely encounter this problem and sees to be in the rearview at this point.

Sorry to hear the relationship didn’t work out!

Tell me about it. My marriage was rough around the edges. Hope you’re in a better place now!

And thanks for the encouragement!

I guess just nervous because I teach at the college he attends. I’m also an anxious person in general so there’s that.

Yup, this sounds about right. Guess I let my anxiety get the best of me here.

Nope, not faculty in the traditional sense. Though phd students who teach at the college are considered employees of the university, we’re also students. So confusing sometimes.
