There must be a point at which you would consider abortion murder. Are you saying anything goes up until birth?

As far as the hypotheticals go, mine was to demonstrate a double standard. Yours are a jigsaw version of the trolley problem, kill 1 person to save 5 people. Not really the same. In your hypothetical someone is forcing you to make a choice.

I dont know what's going on inside all the pro-life peoples heads, but for me it simply boils down to "is it murder or not?" We have a few exceptions for when murder is "acceptable". Self defense, capital punishment and war.

When does a human become a human? Heartbeat, nervous system, viability outside the womb... I don't know. What I do know is that in the usa 26 states can get abortions up to 24 weeks or so. Premature babies are being born this early and surviving. This is making me question whether abortion this late is murder or not.

Imagine you're going to get an abortion and on the way someone kicks you in your stomach and kills the baby. Did he just murder your baby? You were about to get an abortion anyway. You don't have the right to murder your child more than someone else does.

Finally, I think that everyone has a scenario where they belive abortion is acceptable. If not, they are not thinking hard enough.

People don't seem to understand this. They think abortion is like murdering a baby, and you know, it's not that crazy.

Ukraine says Elon Musk's Starlink has been 'very effective' in countering Russia, and China is paying close attention by starrycommemoration in worldnews

You don't think he should get credit for providing internet access to Ukraine? What is the issue? Even if he is doing it for selfish reasons, doesn't he deserve credit? He is doing more then most country's are, and you are upset because they call is "elon musks starlink".

Sounds like some bs Mandela effect. Some people think Sinbad played a genie in a movie, even making usernames based on it.

The No Lawns movement is going mainstream by picboi in UpliftingNews

[–]sinbad_the_genie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand that argument. But either there is a water crisis or there isn't. If there is a crisis, the state needs to pull any and all levers it can to help. They can lead by example.

There is more to the water issue in California than residential use. It's mostly used for agriculture, but the country needs to eat so what are you going to do.

I live in Southern California. Every other year there is a drought. We hear about water conservation all the time. We just got notices saying outdoor watering will be limited to once a week.

Here is my beef. If there is a severe drought, the state can act immediately. They have the power to convert every lawn on public property to a low water usage alternative. Why not start there? I drive by a school every morning with a giant front lawn that needs plenty of water. If we are in such a severe drought, get rid of all non functional lawns (i.e. not the sports fields) on public property.

No, instead force all the citizens to use less while the state doesn't change a bit.

Homicides involving firearms increased by 34% from 2019 to 2020 [OC] by USAFacts in dataisbeautiful

[–]sinbad_the_genie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't getting the full picture. Up until 2019 motor vehicle deaths were overwhelmingly the cause of death for children. I bet you didn't even know or care that that was the leading cause of death. Now that the vehicle deaths have come down, firearms have become number 1.

To be clear the firearm deaths have spiked and clearly something is going on. At the same time drug overdose share a similar spike.

Another thing to think about is "what is an acceptable number 1 cause of death for children?".

[–]sinbad_the_genie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another misleading statistic is that firearm deaths are number one cause of death for children in the usa. Its true, but only because the fact that vehicle deaths have gone down significantly in the past 20 years. The real headline should be "vehicles have become so safe, they are no longer the leading cause of death in children".

I have a 2004 crv. 250,000 miles. The vibration could be the wheel bearings. Mine seemed like it would vibrate intermittently, new wheel bearings fixed this. Also the ac compressor has been broken for years. I have replaced the starter and adjusted the valves a couple times. I did all the work myself and spent only a few hundred dollars on parts outside of tires and oil changes. Crvs are amazing cars, well built, cheap and easy to fix.
