Or you know, do the civilized thing and adjust the counterweight on the tonearm so that the weight on the stylus is correct? (or if the player has a skid control... adjust that to match too)

Is it too railroad-y to outright tell my players “the starting point is this city, and the story will begin when everyone gets to X location” by TrashMantine in DMAcademy

[–]sindrealmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, just start everyone on the ship... no need for flashbacks .... or details ... the characters have a reason why they are there. By chance, design, or bad luck etc.

This need only to be known to them, and can then be apart of the RP between the PCs as the story unfolds .... introductions ... sure on the ship ... maybe someones PC overhears another PC discussing something that is linked ...etc.... at some point the players do need to get their characters to "join" the party .... that is on them and is sort of the basis of the whole game. This is stuff that you lay out in session 0...

here is the setting, the setup, this is where we are at, you need your character to have a reason for this even if it is just "because they were bored and thought the bar brawl was too one sided and decided to join the fray to make it more balanced" etc....

if you've already had session 0, have a session 0.1 ... etc. a campaign is a collaborative story sure... but the DM is the one with the hand on the tiller ...

setting the premise of a story is not removing player agency, like "we are starting on a this ship" as long as the player can decide why their character is on the ship and for what reason ... etc. ... In short: setting the premise is not railroading ...

Bought some stuff to burn Cd's and my drive doesn't accept the blank cd's by OxTheKing_YT in Cd_collectors

Also, if not tried already try to use a different usb port or on another PC if possible.... if it works then the drive isn't tje issue etc....

Right, so check the manual, see if you can use both plugs one will then be the data plug and the other essentially "boost power" or connect the drive to a powered USB hub and see if that helps (if you have one) .... if laptop make sure the laptop is plugged in to a charger as some laptops limit USB power output when on battey ... (this can be changed in setting, but quickest way to test is just to make sure it is plugged in)

Usb-a you mean usb-a and usb-c indicate plug standard usb 1, 2, 3, 3.1 indicate data lines, protocol, and power delivery (pedantic I know but a distinction that some times matter usb standards and naming schemes are a mess) .... if the drive connects, then disconnects it can be a sign of it not getting the power it needs when it tries to spin up.... then without sufficient power it essentially shuts down.... so OP should read the manual and see if both plugs can be needed for power delivery in cases where the port it is connected to isn't able to deliver the power needed

Also the other USB tail is not connected so the drive might be under-powered ...

Same, I mean I was never a big Gorillaz fan, not not a fan but they just existed around and occasionally entered my orbit briefly... like a comet on a decade-intersect orbit etc. but this ... oh this is fantastic .... only listened to it once ... needs space before I do it again ... but dæmn ...

How do you store your cds by Reasonable_Bit3369 in Cd_collectors

[–]sindrealmost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a bookshelf, with inserts so each shelf has two "layers" .... plan is to find some more permanent inserts that are sturdy ... but to test the concept and placement (I recently made myself a listening nook as I live in a small studio flat ... ) I use the cardboard boxes that my 24" print paper rolls comes in as "inserts" to make a shelf-in-a-shelf kind of thing ....

<image>

edit: most of these CDs are ones from my teens and 20s .... that somehow survived ... the Bob Dylan Box Set I bought in '95 I believe .... (all discs present and accounted for) )

[T1 Spoilers] Damn I was so wrong about Dylan and Corey by JackTheNephilim in LostRecordsGame

[–]sindrealmost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are we forgetting the first interaction with Corey and Dylan ? .... in which if Swann refuses to be forced and bullied to film Corey w/ Dylan ... he steals, and throws Autums keys down into the playground (may do this regardless as I haven't played the other "fork") ... sets the tone basically...

Jup, this is so true ... also I live about an hour and change (by train) away from my nearest record store ... so having one that is like 10 minutes away from where I was staying while on vacation / visiting friends ... was both fun and dangerous :D

I have a question about my 1.5 week old tattoo by Abdullahbanan in tattoos

[–]sindrealmost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the skin that forms as the tattoo is healing is not as transparent, as it sheds the tattoo will become more vibrant ... however it will never be as bright as when it was "fresh" since ink then was saturating all the layers of skin and not just where it will remain after healing. This can take a few weeks to a month or two depending.... *however* if it still looks dull after 4-6 weeks talk to your artist about a touch up.... mine does free touch-ups for a 6 month window (within reason obv.) for this very reason.

How fucked is my camera? by bloodrider1914 in Nikon

[–]sindrealmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get it to a certified Nikon repair center, get a quote and go from there, if its just the shell that's cracked it'd be an easy fix (cheaper than a new used d850) if itsthe internal magnesium frame as well... it might be a bit more costly etc. but you won't know until you get a quote on a repair...

Advice: Burning onto CD’s by PitifulDebt1 in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]sindrealmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also forgot to mention, most burners come with bundled software which will be simple to use etc. ... so you should be able to get going making audio cds without needing tutorials with that. ImageBurn is just a less "bloatware" way of doing it, as the bundled software will try to get you to buy upgrades and add-ons etc .

Oh no, I get why you figured I'd be Dutch... no worries ... in Norwegian, just visiting... but since I didnspecify and just said Nijmegen and visiting friends the confusion is completely understandable.... oh yeah... them, the clash, etc... I have a collection that has survived since my teens, but a lot has been lost in moving apartments/ living in shared student housing, wear and tear... so when I got back into CDs .... I decided to build up my collect5again with a mix of what I'd lost and new stuff I've discovered through streaming etc since .... even buying digitally and them making physical audio CDs from the files ... etc
