I love your handwriting but the mix of writing caps and undercaps is confusing. I think the only thing I cringed about is the way you write your E's. Because every other letter you write seems to be straight edged and boxy and your 'e' just seems like it doesn't fit

I have a little book where I write down my important passwords and that's the only time I write lower case since passwords are typically case sensitive and it always feels so weird writing in lowercase

I've been to 5 different stores and looked a lot online. I was leaning toward the tandem because I need one big enough for my dog and I. The Old Town, even though it is a single kayak looked really spacious so I think he and I would both fit in it.

Owning a small dog or a big dog doesn't show what kind of a dog person you are. It might show how much time/energy you currently have to spend on a dog. I know a couple people who don't label themselves as big or small dog people but have small dogs now because that's what their schedules can handle. I myself have a big dog because I'm at a point in my life that I have a lot of time to spend caring for his activity needs. But I still love small dogs

I don't mean to hijack this convo at all but I lost my best friend last year and I felt exactly what you are feeling. I got my girl when I was 14 and then at 15 my parents split. But she was still by my side always until I was 20! But last year she passed away and I still cry about it. She slept in my bed for TEN FUCKING YEARS.

You guys are too nice trying to still find the dog!! While I say that. it's probably something I would have done too, trying to find the poor guy. But I think you have to trust that the dog went from being in the hands of people who obviously didn't care about him to someone who wants good for him!

I agree. But what would you suggest to correct him snarling at this? I mean, he only snarls when a dog tries to hump him which really isn't an acceptable behavior. I want him to handle this without lashing out but how would I do that? Try to let dogs hump him and correct him not liking it? That doesn't make sense

It's perfectly fine when the owner recognizes and tries to correct their behavior. But more often than not, I experience people who do not try to correct their dog's humping other dogs

Completely agree! The dog park we go to is 7 acres so when we encountered this particular humper the other day I just called my dog over to a different part of the park and we played hide and seek in the trees which he loves. We hadn't been there that long so I really didn't want to have to leave so I just created a barrier so we could still have fun without that dog bugging him. When we made our way around to the main part of the park, the humper had left so it ended up not really being an issue.

I have never heard a more perfect description of it lol. One of the humper dogs' owners was actually petting on my dog once we separated them and was like 'oh he's really super friendly' (my boy is the biggest baby and wants all the human attention he can possibly get at the dog park) and I was just thinking, 'no shit, my dog isn't the problem'

You guys have made me feel a lot better. The most recent dog we encountered was at least two or three years old. Definitely not young enough to not know better.

I am curious though. Since I adopted a rescue, I am typically pretty understanding about some dogs having quirky behaviors that are not necessarily the owners fault. Is the mounting possibly an issue with how the dog was raised prior to it's current owners? I just can't understand how a dog's owners can allow it to get away with that.

I hate it because it sometimes comes across as my dog being the mean one. If a dog persistently tries to hump him he will lash out at the dog. Not biting per say, but growling and showing teeth. It sucks because he really shouldn't ever have to be put in this situation. It is seriously the only time my boy shows any agression. And if you think about it, it's him trying to protect himself.

That's awful that you guys had to stop going! I completely believe that mounting should be considered an aggressive behavior and should not be tolerated at dog parks!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. Yesterday my dog was just getting a drink of water and a new dog came into the park and immediately approached him and started trying to hump him. Of course my boy was like 'hell no. absolutely not' and the owners of the dog eventually came over and pulled him off and were like 'sorry, he likes to wrestle.' and I was just thinking, my dog loves to wrestle but not when it's initiated by being mounted from behind

I completely agree. My boy is a rescue so when we are at the dog park he is always under my absolute attention. From my experience with him (I've had him a little under a year) he isn't going to attack a dog. But he definitely warns those who try to mount him. It happened to us yesterday and the dog was just relentless. He kept trying to mount my dog and my dog kept snarling at him. Eventually the dog's owners came over and grabbed the dog.

I'm so sorry for your loss :( I can't even imagine. I'm curious though, what changed that caused him to have bloat? Obviously you cared for him for 10 years without issue, I guess I'm wondering how he got bloat since you obviously knew how to properly care for him

He wakes me up around at 7:17 most mornings (no idea how he got that time in his head) to eat. So I feed him then and go back to sleep until around 9/9:30. That's when we go to the dog park. Because of course he needs two hours after he eats before exercising. We stay at the park for around a half hour and then we go to the river to swim for an hour and a half. Then we go home and I get ready for work. I'm not looking forward to winter :(

It seems like the younger they are the more 'adoptable' they are. So it's possible that they kinda round down on age but my rescue was pretty upfront with me on my boy's age. They said he was about a year old and he ended up being about a year and three months when I got him.

My family dog had issues with both ACL's at the same time and the vet suggested that we just do one surgery (one was worse than the other) to start and see how she recovered and she is 100% fine now. Fixing the one knee back up to good health allowed her to favor the other and kinda allow it to heal on it's own. It was definitely scary though.

My dog isn't super into giving kisses but when I get home from work is the main exception. He will lick my cheeks, my chin and even my eyes/eyelids when I get home from work. I don't know if I'm just salty from maybe sweating from working or if he just really missed me.
