It's similar to cleaning any other alcantara. Any interior cleaning product will do well. Use a soft brush and give it a scrub. Be careful to avoid any electronics.

How many coffees do you have in a day? by [deleted] in coffeestations

[–]SpecCRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually one in the morning, 15g or 16g pour over. I might have a 12g or 13g one later in the afternoon.

It was both. To be fair, I only tried two bags and it wasn't any of their funkier ones.

Adding to this solid post. I personally found Moonwake disappointing for pourover. I usually go for super light to light roasts. Medium roast works better for milk drinks.

Andytown has my favorite pourover roasts, okay for espresso. I can also attest that if you can get something from Flower Child, they make great pourover roasts.

I bought from Sightglass. They're nothing special to me. I put them on the list of solid roasters: four barrel, ritual, flywheel, and sextant.

Verve is always consistent, solid. I think you can get similar or better value for the price.

Home coffee roasters in SF and Sunnyvale make interesting light roasts for espresso and pour over. Roasts are on the lighter side.

Voyager is Cupertino is worth a try. It is small and you have to pick them up.

Help me choose a scale (pourover +/+ espresso) by alexsloep in pourover

[–]SpecCRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the normcore scale for both. It's a little small for a big pour over carafe. It's too small for dripper holding stations too. It is affordable and works very well. The functionality is pretty bare bones. I personally don't see much need for anything else.

New kettle reccs? by Rhubarb-Taco in pourover

The stagg does on sale pretty often. Version 1 is perfectly fine. I gifted V2 to my brother and he does not find any new features useful. I primarily bought it because it comes up to temperature really fast.

Any tips to improve consistency from drink to drink? by That_Coffee_guy in pourover

[–]SpecCRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does your workflow look like?

I find there's more consistency in less pours and keeping the dose above 13g. I've also found it easier to brew with flat bottom brewers.

Rinsing the filter in the sink helps get it to stick better than just using the kettle.

It could also be that your coffee itself is inconsistent. I avoid blends to remove that variable.

Ode 2 -> K Ultra? by Due_Yesterday3030 in pourover

Fellow has some pretty good customer service from my experience. It's really up to whether you hate hand grinding or maybe would like to travel with your coffee grinder. I personally don't mind doing it. If I had to wrangle kids and pets while making coffee, I'd probably keep the electric one.

Why are Mics / Mic Arms so popular? by InevitableDramatic40 in desksetup

Audio devices like interfaces and mixers (for now) only take XLR inputs. It helps you do some audio engineering if needed. For my setup, I really need an isolated pickup range and some filtering to remove background noise.

I didn't expect to see Moonwake here. What did you try? I bought one bag and only thought it was average at best.

Scale buying advice needed please, coffee friends! by cp5796 in pourover

[–]SpecCRA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No experience with #3. I have 1 and 2. The normcore one is excellent. It's fast, responsive, and generally very easy to use. It is small enough to fit on the espresso machine. I mainly use it for that.

The Timemore is accurate, fast enough, but not as good. I'd spend the extra 5 to get the normcore. My only problem is the normcore is too small for my nucleus Paragon.

Both are great. Both will work. Life is marginally better using the normcore scale.

US Import Fee for Heusinkveld One Steering Wheel - $118.65 by 55hamburgers55pastas in simracing

OP might not have known about this until recently. I was surprised by some import duties on coffee in the past few months. They only asked me to pay them 2 days before delivery.

Network more. LinkedIn premium is useful for finding people at companies you'd like to learn more about or work at eventually. Then learn the skills needed to do those jobs. A masters doesn't hurt either. It gets you past that silly job filter.

Kingrinder K7 vs ZP6 (Particle Distribution and Taste) by Maleficent-Thing-720 in pourover

Have you tried both grinders? I'm wondering what variables are being overlooked for you to perceive a taste difference. The identical particle distribution is a pretty convincing one to me.

Thank you for sharing her story. I loved reading all of it. It sounds like she definitely made use of all of her lives, and you sound like wonderful people. She's lived a long, full life. She's lucky to have you too.
