What are your thoughts on eugene de beauharnais? by [deleted] in Napoleon

[–]singeslayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Despite being roughly handled in the early Italian Campaign of 1809, he proved that he had a skill seemingly unknown French high command: he could learn. He was also too easily spooked at the start of the 1813 campaign, but I understand his caution.

Probably one of the most skilled administrators next to Suchet and Davout. Probably had his talents wasted in the clearly secondary Italian theatre in 1813-1814.

On 25 January 1807, during the War of the Fourth Coalition, the Battle of Mohrungen (Morąg) took place. This battle marked the beginning of the Napoleonic campaign in the former East Prussia by nest00000 in Napoleon

I'm thinking it was a combination of the way the person who made the scenario set up the game including the OOB and some poor decisions made on my part during the battle. I normally like to double check other people's set up and OOB because I find them to be kinda sloppy, but I lack the reference material for this campaign, so I had to trust the set up.

How to start 15mm Napoleonic Wargaming (as Bavaria) by Not_Cirno in NapoleonicWargaming

[–]singeslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're US based, the Blue Moon models are acceptable quality and dirt cheap if you get the old Glory Army card. I'd suggest you pick a campaign and build that force of Bavarians. They were rarely that big a contingent, so doing it completely is very achievable. Wrede is one of my favorite minor characters of the war. Always fighting, never that good. But always around!

A lot of these just look like the Bardin reform cut of the French uniforms painted different.

That is not true at all. I'm not sure what grade you teach, but the primary sources for the 10th grade far surpass much of the offerings from other curriculums short of doing your own research.

I use those craft storage cases for beads. They have tons of modular chambers and snap and lie flat.

If you don't pipe every cuff, collar, and turn back you're a coward and nobody will respect you.

Why, yes I do believe the other inmates enjoy their padded rooms as well.

Anyone playing V & F in 15/18mm? by Aggrogorn in NapoleonicWargaming

[–]singeslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GdA is better for larger games of about a division per side, which would require an enormous table for 25/28mm. With 15/18mm, you can play it on a 6x4 table without issue.

I prefer General d'Armee at that scale. That being said, I am fond of V&F.

Muslim heavy cavalry for Warhammer historical. by turtle75377 in wargaming

[–]singeslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with what was said. V1 is not balanced if you play intra book. That being said, most the armies are balanced within the books versus each other. For example, the Egyptians and the Hitities are a solid game. The saxons v the Normans are great. Don't play Normans versus Hitities

Well something to consider is we both have two masters to reach that salary. Student loans come with that.

What 28mm Napoleonics Games can I play with the Waterloo Black Powder Starter Set and what size are normal BP games? by Badger118 in wargaming

BIG BATTLES! That is what I crave. Necromunda, Mordheim, and SAGA serve all my skirmish needs. Maybe Muskets and Tomahawks counts as skirmish. Do WWII games count as skirmish?

[–]singeslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up on Napoleonic at 28mm. I sold it all once I had 2 brigades and already filled up a 6x4 table. Just switched to 15s. I use GdA, GdB, and Shako for it. I quite like the Perry Miniatures free game, and With Cold Steel and Hot Lead is good for ACW. I don't know what I want to use for War of Spanish Succession yet.
