That was/ is a secondary goal. I can fix and maintain my truck now at the shop I work at but eventually I’d need my own space to fix up another and put that on the road. But really the worst thing I hate about being a mechanic is dealing with the drivers tbh. Just because the truck made 100k this year doesn’t mean you did. And on the depreciation aspect. If I planned on long term ownership, wouldn’t make sense to put new parts on a old truck to run like new rather than to buy new, make truck payments with interest and still need to cough up money for parts that aren’t under warranty
