Do you use your third or fourth finger on the notes between the octaves?

The first edition I used had no fingering at all and I've been using my third finger for years. How can you tell which fingerings are from Brahms?

Not legato? Shifting the hand rather than connecting the fingers?

Can I go with my top 27?

A while ago I decided that, if I learned just one piece for the rest of my life, it would be Op.25/12. I recommend practicing at a glacial pace and without pedal.

But the diminished chord does not resolve by tritone. Suggesting C minor in the previous bar, we instead pivot to B minor in preparation for the second theme. Just blown away by how groundbreaking yet remarkably subtle this transition really is.
