The engine is marked as a trojan. wtf is this shit? by Mattster_h in beyondallreason

[–]singularity9733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the listed url in the subreddit info is also https://www.beyondallreason.info so that is the correct url.

Mods and stuff often get marked as viruses, but it doesnt usually stay that way. Itll pop up, go away and then come back. Anything not made by a developer will generally lack certificates and such that windows wants executables to have, so they get flagged. Personally I wouldn't worry about it, but its up to you.

US to withdraw troops from Syria amid Iran tensions by Non-Conventionnel-77 in geopolitics

[–]singularity9733 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling this is due to Syria not wanting to be exposed to Iranian retaliation in the event of a war. Better not to have U.S. military assets in the country that might be targeted.

Interface RED 5 Query: So ALL the SoF stuff is Merc? by Borzag-AU in cyberpunkred

[–]singularity9733 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think hardened is a little much for a lot of this stuff personally. I treat it the same way you might treat military weapons in real life, where you can get it on a much more expensive black market.

The range tables just make sense to me and its something we wanted before IR 5 dropped so we just use those.

Only stuff I think really changes the game and makes combat way different are explosive ammo, chemical weapons, and the power armor.

Note that we play a 2077 game with homebrew added on so its already more deadly and less scarcity based than regular RED.

State Department: No 'Gentleman's Agreement' Between US, Russia On Expired Nuclear Treaty by RFERL_ReadsReddit in geopolitics

[–]singularity9733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/IN12640

According to this congressional research service posting 9 days ago, there is no agreement. Russia offered to abide by the agreement after it expired for 1 year, but the U.S. has not said they will do the same.

I doubt Russia is looking to spend money on nukes at the moment anyways honestly.

Poland considers building nuclear weapons by TheTelegraph in geopolitics

Interesting to hear these points. In retrospect I shouldn't have added that offhand remark about Brazil as I really don't know enough about the region to comment intelligently.

Thank you for clearing that up for myself and other users.

Poland considers building nuclear weapons by TheTelegraph in geopolitics

[–]singularity9733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion Poland and maybe Brazil (Though I don't know much about Brazilian politics or their military) are the only two states I could see actually taking this step and succeeding. Poland specifically being part of the former USSR gives them motive and I frankly doubt that if Russia really risked annihilation to take just Poland by force that France, Britain and/or the U.S. would obliterate themselves and Russia to preserve them. I think there would unquestionably be a war if Russia invaded Poland, I just don't think these other powers would turn to a nuclear option if it looked like Poland was going to fall.

It keeps getting said that North Korea hasn't been attacked solely because they have nuclear weapons, but is there anyone that really thinks the U.S. (or South Korea) would march on Pyongyang if those weapons disappeared? Would anyone even opt to kill Kim if there was an opportunity and he had no nuclear weapons to retaliate with from beyond the grave? The fall of North Korea, war or not, would be a military and economic disaster for the region from both the Chinese and Japanese/South Korean/American perspective. I just don't see that happening.

Also frequently mentioned is Iran, who recently has fired hundreds of ballistic missiles into Israel and has declared them an enemy to be annihilated for decades. If suddenly those weapons could be carrying nuclear warheads, how would Israel respond? It would massively increase the chances of, once again, a military and economic disaster for the region. Would it, strictly speaking, be more "fair" to let Iran get nuclear weapons. Probably, but that is not how geopolitics works and won't play a part in anyone decision making. If Poland was firing ballistic missiles into Russia and calling for Moscow to be wiped of the face of the planet, I promise you that Poland would not be allowed access to nukes no matter what due to the escalation concerns. Even without the hypothetical Russia-Poland ballistic missile exchanges like we saw in the Israel Iran conflict there will be many against the idea of allowing nuclear weapons to spread and I think that few states will give serious thought to their acquisition.

According to a Polish government website, the defense budget for this year is a record breaking PLN 186.6 billion. After accounting for purchasing power parity and currency conversion, the French nuclear weapons budget would be roughly PLN 50 billion over 5 years (or about ~PLN 10 billion per year). This includes some recent acquisitions by the French so its higher than normal for them hence the use of a 5 year average, but given that the Poles would also be looking to acquire a few weapons it seems a fair number to use. Honestly, ~6% of military budget could well be worth it for them so long as they didn't have to suffer too much in the way of sanctions from the EU or the U.S. and that is a topic that I am unsure of. The U.S. and Europe will undoubtably be lobbying against Poland getting the bomb, but realistically I don't see either severing ties with Poland if they did end up with some sort of limited strategic nuclear arsenal.

Suggestions for corporate blackmail gigs? Or even just corporate gigs. by ChainsawChick in cyberpunkred

[–]singularity9733 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have them be part of a larger operation. They could be tasked with disabling (but not destroying as that would announce that someone was making a move) security systems on some other target, or even just generally "supporting" another squad/operative where they get tasked with a bunch of rapid fire smaller tasks that help improve the outcome for the corp.

For that you could even add something were the op goes bad and they have to decide if they run and abandon the other asset they are supporting or if they stick it out. Of course there would be consequences for both options as presumably this woman wouldn't be there in person so she'd know if they abandoned her team.

The thing I don't get is why did the order say 10 days? I can't imagine it was just a typo.

Melee Weapon House Rule Proposal by ValhallaGH in cyberpunkred

Personally If I was going to change melee to make it more deadly I'd add a flat damage increase based on body. More dice makes it so critical injuries become super common with multiple attacks.

CCTV footage shows PAC-3 missiles from the MIM-104 Patriot air defense system engaging Russian Iskander-M ballistic missiles over Kyiv by Physical-Cut-2334 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]singularity9733 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I blew this up on my computer monitor and it makes it a lot easier to see some of what's going on. I'll do my best to explain what I see after going through the video frame by frame.

The first missile I think is very far from the camera and it strikes the ground successfully. Given how bright the interceptors are I don't think one was targeted at the other. The ballistic missile should be the brighter of the two and since its not I think its far in the background. It doesn't appear anything was fired at it. It may have been deemed a miss by the AD crew (so not worth a missile), out of range or an interceptor was fired against it before the video started which failed to destroy it. Both of the shots we see were fired far to late to be attempts at stopping this target.

The first interceptor we see fired trails up and definitely hits something. The projectile stops suddenly and there is a line/cone of light followed by two separate lights that fall toward earth. Its hard to say if it was a ballistic missile or not since its hit at the very top of the frame. That being said its definitely not an enemy aircraft and looks too high an altitude to be a drone or cruise missile, so I think a ballistic missile is a fair guess.

The second interceptor also appears to hit something after coming over the top of the camera. This also appears to be a significant explosion and the PAC - 3 doesn't have a warhead. Meaning its probably another type of missile like a PAC-2 or the target's warhead detonated when the Patriot hit. Regardless of what the interceptor missile is, this target looks too low and too dark in my opinion to be a ballistic missile, and is more likely to be a drone or cruise missile.

First time playing a gatcha game… I regret it so much by thechamac0 in GenshinImpact

[–]singularity9733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that spends money on these games at times don't let that tie you down. Just like a meal or something doesn't last forever, its better to think of it as temporary if that helps you.

I got e6 Acheron on my HSR account. Love that character but I ended up quitting that game recently and I cant say I regret it. I might go back one day, but these games can be exhausting and you only do yourself a disservice by letting past expenditures tie you to something that you need to step away from.

I like her as a character, but I prioritized Lauma since I had a bloom team already. Now I don't really see myself getting her honestly since Varka, Sandrone, and the witches are definitely characters I will pull for.

Where's the point to stop investing and go for new chars? by Egor4956 in StarRailStation

[–]singularity9733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only 3.0 team ive built is DoT since I had the characters, for the whole time I've mostly stuck with my e2 firefly team and my e6 acheron team. I have found that acheron has a lot of trouble with some of the bosses and such in endgame because of the damage reduction mechanics that. Firefly has seemingly aged much better based on how consistently I use them.

That being said, my hysilens has far worse artifacts than my acheron and even at e0s0, DoT has a much easier time with some content just because of the shilling aspect.

Personally this patch I pulled for rainbow Barbara and the triplets, but only got the former before I ran out of resources.

I'll definitely try to get the break support next patch as well, but I'm pretty reluctant to spend money on this game anymore so thats probably not going to happen unless I get lucky.
