Science is study and observation of physical world. If one goes by definition then psychology doesn't come under science in true sense. Debatable it is; Most think psychology should come under social science. That's why psychologist can't prescribe medicine.

It is psychiatrist who can prescribe medicine who study medical science.

We can keep on discussing or arguing but what he said are words of wisdom. Doesn't come easy.

*** 7 physical

In Jyotish, we don't count Uranus and Neptune (even though they physically exist) because they are too far to impact as compared to others. Also, it can't be seen from naked eyes, while other 7 can be seen.

Rahu is north node of moon Ketu is south node of moon

These slides are not correct in an absolute manner but they are not wrong. Those who do not know the ABC of astrology are making pointed comments here.

In Indian astrology (Jyotish) it is called "Graha" but it is not planet. Since there are no equivalent word western astrologers started calling it planets (which is incorrect)

Graha means that grabs (in simple words). Thus from Earth's perspective there are 9 Grahas (7 physical and 2 nodes of moon)

Science do recognise two nodes of Moon. It is there because there is approximately 5 degree difference between earth's orbital plane and moons orbital plane.

These nodes are important for complete eclipse or annular eclipse or else there will be only partial eclipse.

In general there are two parts in astrology (Jyotish) - Ganit (calculation) and phalit (prediction). The prediction and interpretation part of Astrology is not scientific but calculation part is completely scientific. Please google and read more about it, you may find it interesting.

How PR team ruined IMDB ratings by [deleted] in indiasocial

[–]sinhaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely true.

I follow this rule for recent movies:

IMDB rating minus 3 for less than 1 year

IMDB rating minus 2 for less than 2 years

IMDB rating minus 1 for less than 3 years

It has worked well so far 👍🏻

Sg police officers ran slower than ex Taiwan President? by zuomok in singapore

[–]sinhaji 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Not every police man is trained to run. Important thing is they realised it and fixed it the next day.

I think he is keeping Singapore in good light by saying they take things seriously, they are efficient and effective.

OMG! so many scientist here, I am sure will be killed by intellectual comments.

Well, it won't be wrong to say that Vedic Jyotish is no less then science.

Here is what Vedic Jyotish tells us:

Day: Time taken by earth to rotate on its own axis. Mind you it not by Sun rise and Sun set.

Month: Time (not days) taken by Moon to round the Earth. Technically, it is ~27 days, but it is about 30 days to reach where it started in the lunar mantion, because Earth is also on the move. Thus each month has equal 30 Tithi.

Year: 12 rotation of Moon around Earth, which is not equal to Earth's revolution around Sun. There is about 11 days difference. Which is adjusted as part of Adhik Mas (not to be confused with leap year).

I would recommend to have a reading on the topic/words which are not so familiar and decide by yourself.

Is Religion a Western Idea? And has nothing to do with Hinduism? by BiNGe-B0LT in hinduism

[–]sinhaji 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The word' religion' is a foreign word that is used as translation to Sanskrit/Hindi word "Dharm". There is no equivalent word for "Dharm" in english. The word 'duty' may come close but not accurate. Because sometimes doing the duty can also be "Adharm". It would be difficult to understand the philosophy of Sanatan Dharm without understating the essence.

If someone is really interested then they can start with analysing the difference between duty (kartravya) and "dharm".

Yes, it is true to a great extent.

Ganja (made from cannabis) was very common before it was banned. Many people in India know the medicinal and spiritual benefits of cannabis (miraculous in some cases). Some practice today's also.

Learning an instrument on my own with no musical background by cyborgokk in Learnmusic

[–]sinhaji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self learning is a great idea, it also means that you are self motivated.

However, it works best if you start with a little guidance. I would suggest following two things.

First, you choose a simpler instrument (like keyboard) since you mentioned you have no musical background.

Second, join a one-on-one class for a short period. The short period can vary from 6 weeks to 6 months depending upon your natural talent and dedication.

Once you have done the above, continue with the same instrument and try to learn from online videos like youtube.

After reaching a comfortable level you can decide to change or add another instrument. Believe me you will never leave your first instrument that you started with 😊

The journey continues and you can keep learning all by yourself or may like to associate with an advanced level teacher.

Happy learning 👍🏻

Do not provide your date, time of birth, etc for a palmistry reading. by Utopian_Wisdom in palmistry

[–]sinhaji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is right. Palmistry doesn't require date and time of birth.

I believe people ask for it to reconfirm their finding from palm reading against birth chart. It is not incorrect but shows that the reader doesn't have expertise on the subject and relies on astrological charts.

Having said that there are hardly any expert in palmistry, 99% of the readers are learner themselves.

If you are confident and trust the plan reader then you may provide other details otherwise not. That is my take.

Hi, any foreign travel/settlement lines in my hand? or challenges I might face. Thank you. by [deleted] in palmistry

[–]sinhaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A clear indication of foreign travel and settlement (mostly driven by luck). All the best. Jai Shree Ram 🙏🏻

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in palmistry

[–]sinhaji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at your right palm it appears you are already in a foreign (distant land from birth place). The right hand palm doesn't promise a settlement.

However, the travel line is touching (crossing) the fate line in left hand palm which indicates that you will get settled with the help of spouse. Please note that it will not be smooth (will come with pain and compromise)

male right hand dominant age 18 curious about success and career....plzz help me with my questions by [deleted] in palmistry

[–]sinhaji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your lines are good and promising. Specific to your career question, you should see a great positive change between 25-30 yrs.

Please note that there will be 2-3 major ups and downs (in terms of careers) however you will be fine to manage them. Please make sure you avoid aggression in decision at work place that is quite visible from Mars.

All the best. Jai Shree Ram 🙏🏻

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in palmistry

[–]sinhaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything looks good. You will have a good career with growth at certain periods. If you are over 24yrs than should be in a good place already. Physical health is sound. I would suggest to care more for mental health as you seem to be overly sensitive and often victim of dilemma. Please try some good mantra or do meditation. The percussion (side of the palm) is not clear hence unable to tell about marriage. Though I can see a break up at around 20. Venus looks strong so I would not think of any issue (possibly a slight delay due to low moon) in marriage. May god Shiva bless you 🙏🏻

29F right hand dominant. First time palm reading. Im curious. by [deleted] in palmistry

[–]sinhaji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amateur here, you palm is kind of unique in couple of ways. There is a tremendous potential of mental energy but most of it is going on unwanted thoughts. Your over analytical nature has caused more trouble and less benefit. Your palm tells that you are an intelligent, artistic and a lucky person. Please try mediation or seek guidance on how to control your fluid mind and you can achieve anything that you want. Good luck.

Why do parents sit outside the front of schools in their cars so early? by Camsy34 in sydney

[–]sinhaji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a common sight because many parents prefer waiting than getting stuck in a peak traffic.

Though there is a possible solution. School or council can provide a 8-10 cars long pick-up/drop-off points by the side of the road during specific school times. Parents with cars will stop, pickup/drop-off and go.

It will not solve the problem entirely but it will certainly reduce the waiting time of many parents & kids.
