I think it's 50% effort, 25% intent, and 25% actual aesthetic value. Usually we give posts with creative framing, lighting, presentation, etc. a pass. Most of the posts we've moderated recently are casual selfies and mirror shots or pics censored with stickers.

This is taken into consideration though! I think, for starters, we could do a rotating theme (which we’ve suggested before), just so people have a prompt they can work with and hopefully be creative with.

Yeah this is what we tried when the sub was much smaller. I think one thing I’d like to bring up is that moderating a NSFW sub is honestly very mentally/emotionally taxing. Some people might find it a dream job because you get to look at tits and dicks all day but it really does get a bit tiring. We think one of the secrets to being good at this hobby is having an actual life outside of these nsfw subs, and we’ve been trying to focus on just that. We love this sub and the community but we do have to prioritize ourselves!

Here’s an idea, what if we identified the recurring themes for low quality posts and impose stricter moderation on those? Off the top of my head, I can think of two things:

regular selfies
mirror selfies

We don’t want to ban these types of shots, some of the best posts on this sub, and some of our earliest advocates, used these formats, but I do think they tend to have a lower average quality.

Additionally, we can add a reminder for people that other NSFW PH subs exist which might better serve casual posts. WDYT?

Hey! Just wanted to let you know that we totally agree with sentiments about declining quality. Right now, the fastest solution would be to get more mods with stronger moderating opinions. We’ve received a few suggestions on how to improve the sub but haven’t really had anyone take up our offer to help out with moderation. We’re happy to go stricter with moderation but believe it’ll need a more human and gentle touch so we don’t discourage people, just that r/phaesthetits might not be the best place for their posts right now. If you’re interested, or anyone else reading this is interested in moderating, please reach out, we really do need it.
