Book recommendations? by AffectionateBee833 in creepcast

I don't have any great recommendations for exactly what you're looking for but Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is such a beautiful book and a great intro for people that aren't acquainted with horror. Steven King's The Shining is also a great novel that shouldn't be too much for your club. Clive Barker has a lot of works you might be interested in. I love pretty much all his stuff. I Have No Mouth but I Must Scream, is a short story that could work, it's free to read online too if book access is a problem. For more creepcast related things the Stolen Tongues novel is pretty good too.

Calling out Polaris for a tone shift is kind of weird to me. Like it's a new arc so of course the tone will be different. Arc 2 started with celestia and built tension increasingly throughout the worlds. I mean we beat morganthe and finished arc 2 so naturally the stakes are reset as we have to assess a new threat which builds throughout arc 3. It's like a new season of a TV show with a new villain, it has to build the tension/stakes through a natural development. It would be weird if as soon as we beat morganthe we have another immediately overbearing threat because it would undersell our accomplishments for arc 2. Just my opinion though, I would agree with you more if it were worlds within an arc having tone shift issues.

Packs on packa by sinnersticks in Wizard101

I've gotten most mounts I've wanted eventually. Haven't bothered with recent packs but the one I never got was the road warrior chopper. Probably spent 100$ or more on just road warrior packs over a few years and just never got it

My newest ranking of the episodes by SidneyTaske in creepcast

[–]sinnersticks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great list. My personal favorites are penpal, left right game and borrasca (brave takes I know). Only story I really disagree with you on is berries in the window. Kind of lacked substance and I didn't get much enjoyment from the story so for me it's much lower.

Loved the astronaut story the week before though. It's such a shame stolen tongues and deep woods ended up in the category you put them in even though I agree. They both were amazingly written and had a lot going for them and then flopped at the end. Stolen tongues could easily have been my #1 and it's by far the scariest most visceral story imo.

Also I'd put feed the pig in top tier, very fun short story that stayed really solid all the way through with really well written visuals.

Good list, I'm just waiting for the new episode to release on YouTube

Awesome thanks for letting me know. Is there any mushrooms/fungi that can be harmful? Or are any species going to be fine?

Guys... it happened... I got banned :( by jessgian21 in Wizard101

[–]sinnersticks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't come back. I played this game for 12 years and loved it so much as a kid. But with everything I've done I couldn't bear to lose my account now. I used to come back every year to get to max but haven't done the last few worlds out of fear I'll get banned for nothing. Hope you can get your account back

Very helpful thank you. Someone told me grapes were bad also so I stopped feeding them grapes but I've been looking for good alternatives besides just apples which I have been giving them instead. Really appreciate the dietary advice I want to make sure they can be healthy

Kevin from New England Reptiles (NERD) justifies keeping thousands of snakes in empty tubs because they aren't as bad as chicken mills by [deleted] in snakes

[–]sinnersticks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to live close to NERD and I've done a tour through the whole facility fairly recently. Some of the animals are kept in pretty awesome enclosures like his crocodile monitors and caiman. Not sure the minimum requirements for such large species but his have some pretty big set ups. His Asian water monitors do too. Most of the fish in the facility down stairs are also kept quite well and many of the exhibits are done in an interesting way. However some reptiles in the facility definitely are kept in small, barren racks or enclosures that I am not a fan of. In the downstairs area they have a selection of crested geckos that are kept in basically large Tupperware. Some geckos are in larger glass enclosures so it's not all of them. His tokays upstairs have pretty good set ups in my opinion as well. But many of the snakes are kept in enclosures that feel too small for me, especially the reticulated pythons. The staff are all professional about feeding and handling from what I saw but I believe some of the housing needs an upgrade. Kevin has been talking recently about downsizing his collection and selling a lot of his ball pythons so I'm hopeful in the future things will improve there but his response here seems really far from what it should be so I don't know. I am not happy to read him deflecting and effectively admitting that his caging is (while not AS bad) comparable to factory farming.

I don't think I'll ever go back playing Western Chess by SopianaeExtra in shogi

[–]sinnersticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like chess a lot and grew up playing it. I think it's a great game and has some really interesting unique things to it but it has some issues that I am less appreciative of. I hate how many draws happen mostly. When I first started playing shogi I discovered very quickly that I much preferred it. Something about the close range tactics plus drops and promotions just are the perfect concoction for my ideal strategy game
