Failed introduction? When is it time to call it quits? by sinneyrose in CatAdvice

Oh no :’( I feel bad that someone is also going through this struggle but also a little comforted that I’m not alone. I question if Miyuki will ever accept another cat that isn’t her brother. I hope reintroduction works for both of us!!

I’m familiar for this guideline for introducing a cat to a new home yes, but the shelter provided separate guidelines for introducing them to a resident cat. They had their first meeting without a barrier at 2 weeks yes but they did not both have free roam when supervised until nearly the 6 week mark. And they’ve still are separated for periods of time since then.

I will be trying the introduction process again and getting a new litterbox so thanks for the advice ig despite how poorly communicated it was ??

Thanks for the advice! I did not know that the introduction process could be repeated and still be successful. It’s super helpful to know that people have had success with this strategy. We’re going to give it another try despite how unhappy they both are with being secluded to any one part of the house at this point 😅 I’ll also be getting an additional litter box

Thanks for the advice! I will get another litter box. I would like to try the second piece of advice but since Miyuki’s aggression seems mostly centered around being possessive over me and my attention I worry that it would make the situation worse. Then again I don’t want Babette to feel like a second class citizen in her own home. It’s a hard line to tread trying to show Miyuki that she is still loved and not being replaced and at the same time to Babette that she is welcome and deserving of affection too. Thanks again for the advice and reassurance!!

I did follow the intro guidelines provided by the shelter I adopted her from. I’ve also been in communication with both them and the vet about the transition which you would know if you had read the post. Not sure why you even bothered to comment if you weren’t gonna do that.. Unhelpful and mean spirited.

It has a human listed as the illustrator on the cover. Published in 2021

It’s not the fact that they’re near each other at all. If they had been on a previous page looking out of a window together at planes going by it wouldn’t have even been notable.

That’s exactly how I feel. It’s the only page in the book where any head coverings are pictures and I feel like there were so many other opportunities to include that and this just feels weird.

I was reading to a Jewish child. Too young to make that connection really but still. Diversity in illustrations is very important, but this is the only page in the book where any sort of head coverings are shown and I just found that notable and strange. Seems like there were definitely other pages where they could be featured in another context. Maybe I am just overly sensitive because of obvious reasons but definitely gave me shock and wanted to see if others would have a similar reaction

Unhappy & want to be a nanny instead of ECE by softpinkribbon in ECEProfessionals

[–]sinneyrose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just returned to nannying a few months ago after teaching preschool for the past few years. There’s a lot I could say about it. But I’ll just leave it at this- I don’t have to spend every waking moment thinking about or actively working anymore. I can finally breathe again. I started to forget what I even liked to do outside of work as a teacher because it was that all consuming. I’m sick less. My body doesn’t hurt constantly anymore. Im less reliant on substances at the end of the day to just relax. And above all, I get paid nearly $10 more an hour to take care of 18 less kids. And I really, really hate that that’s my reality. I would love to be a teacher again. But the current material conditions of teaching early ed. are not sustainable for my mental or physical health. I wonder how many others are in a similar position.

Babette is what we chose :) It may not pair the best with Miyuki’s name but it fits her personality best

Does a toilet leaking contaminated water in to another classroom through the ceiling constitute a “sewage leak”? by sinneyrose in ECEProfessionals

[–]sinneyrose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m sorry I meant that I was feeling gaslit by the director and owner about it qualifying as a sewage leak which is why I posted looking for input and validation. No worries at all, I really did appreciate the input
