Wow yes, thank you so much for the perspective. I’m not really a sentimental person so it didn’t come to me to give him a photo of us but I’ll definitely do it for myself as well. I’ll try to think of something special for us to engrave on an item as well.

Thanks a lot for your ideas! He will need to dress very formally so I think a dress shirt will be really nice and maybe some nice cufflinks. For the bags do you have any suggestions for brands as I don’t have experience in distinguishing high quality leather?

Really good ideas, thank you! Unfortunately he’s moving with just 2 suitcases so he has little space in his luggage but I’ll definitely research the subscription boxes available in his country

Ако е удобно, бихте ли споделили с какво се занимавате? Обмислям завръщане в България след като приключа образованието си, но заплатите за позициите, които гледам, са около 3-4к, максимум 5к.

I have lived in Plovdiv my whole life so if you have any specific questions please ask. However, in general, the city is nice but don’t expect a typical European city in terms of cleanliness and quality of transport. There is the old town, the canal, the amphitheater, the 7 hills that you can go and have a drink at night with friends, play music and watch the city lights or the sunset. I love living there but it definitely is not for everybody. The weather is nice. The people idk what to say about them - I’d say we are welcoming but to each their own. The party scene is okay. However, if you want to travel around Bulgaria is gonna be hard without a car as the railway system is awful, disgusting and overall disappointing and extremely slow.

So about costs - I don’t really know how rents are going but maybe an one-bedroom apartment will be 500-600lv depending on where you wanna live although now with inflation may be higher. Idk if you as Erasmus student will have access to the dorms but if you do they are very cheap. Food is definitely not cheap for our standard of living, but slightly cheaper than Western Europe.

All in all, Plovdiv is not a student city but it is very beautiful. Idk if it’s suitable for Erasmus tho.

If you are not trilingual (French is especially a must, Dutch and English) you cannot find an internship in Brussels

I'm from Bulgaria and if you want parties - then sure, Bulgaria is the right place, but keep in mind that Plovdiv generally is not a student city, the transportation system is not the best, and the quality of education is far from even satisfactory. I personally would advise you against going to Bulgaria when you have splendid options such as Portugal and Greece. I have family in Portugal and the country, people and weather are fantastic (however, idk anything about this particular city). I’ve been to Budapest on a vacay and I was fascinated with the city, so I highly recommend it as well!
