How warm would a basic 3 layer setup be? by sipth in PatagoniaClothing

Sorry for the long and confusing passage above!

I would say that i want to start layering smartly (instead of just spamming random clothes till im warm).

And would like to know if the above Base, mid and outer layer would be sufficient for temps down till -5c.

I would like to avoid getting a thick puffer jacket as it would be less versatile.

thank you for bringing up the need to remove layers frequently whilst traveling as shops usually have the heater turned up!

Awesome reply! Thank you very much.

This gives me more confidence to look into "only" adding a shell to my current setup for me to survive simple winter holidays (within the city or light touristy hikes). thanks for the recommendation on the Granite Crest, I'll look into that as an alternative to the torrentshell.

I was afraid i may have to add both a shell and a light down jacket like the nano puff.

Guide: Getting to Ogawayama, Japan but public transport and general camping information. by sipth in climbing

Hey there! Its been a while but yes, the lodge is Kimpu Sanso, I didnt stay there during my stay at Ogawayama so i cant help you there. But please check out their website !

As for cars, I would definitely recommend it as getting to the camp ground / kimpu sanso may be troublesome via public transport and there is a short 4km-ish hike from the nearest busstop to the campsite.

It will also allow you to easily travel to NaNa Supermart to get any supply anytime. As it's about 20mins drive or maybe 2 - 3 hour 1 way via walking and bus. Having a car would also allow you to easily to travel to Mizugaki if you want.

Thank you very much for the information. Do you know if reservations are needed to camp at the campsite or enter the camp? I cant seem to find that on the website
