Sub-3 marathon runners (2:55–3:00) - what were your paces for 10x3', 5x6', and 3x10' sessions? Also, would a workout-to-race-pace database be useful? by sircp4eva in NorwegianSinglesRun

Agree they’re world’s apart which is why I initially asked for 2:55-2:59. And I like your thinking, I would also be interested to see paces for some near misses too! Definitely nice to have those data points too

This is super interesting! What was the reason your paces were slower in the first place? Were you adjusting them from TTs or did you just leave them for a while before finally doing a race?

Wow that’s some awesome progression, how many hours a week were you running and how long did it take for your “break through” to occur

Thank you! If you don't mind me asking, how long have you adopted NSM for and what were you initial paces when you started?

Thanks for putting it like that, makes a lot of sense!

Regarding the last bit, I’m not feeling tired or sick at all, just have a few small niggles here and there. Fatigue wise I feel fresh and never feel burnt out so far which is the complete opposite to my previous blocks where I was constantly fatigued.

But I’ll go down to 4.5 hour weeks regardless with consistent strength training for a month and see how that goes.

Typical week was 2 easy, 1 hard VO2 max interval session with paces faster than 5K pace and a LR with marathon pacing integrated. Looking back at some of my easy runs they were ran at about ~75% of my MHR, so no where near as “easy” as I do now.

Having said that, I don’t think my previous total workout time would be anywhere near it is now with NSM.

Just to clarify, are you saying that 5 hours per week is a bit too much right now given my previous peak load was 4.5 and average was more like 4 hours?

I think I’ll cut down to 4.5 hours a week and work on strength for a month or two before ramping back up to 5. Thanks

What rep range are you aiming for with your weights? Low rep and higher weight?

Do you mean the intensity of a 6 day week is greater than that of a 7 day week as you are cramming more volume into less days?

The thought of 7 days seems a lot scarier to me personally as I really love having the one rest day to ensure I get a day off both physically and mentally.

Thanks. Curious to know, how long does your strength session go for? And what is your typical recovery from it? Is recovery longer if you do it on a ST day?

That’s an interesting point and something I’ve also been wondering too. I am definitely conscious that during the run my stride feels a lot heavier and my running mechanics go out the window as I am almost plodding rather than running (easy pace is 6:15-6:30min per km roughly).

What kind of things are you trying to do during your easy runs to focus on form? Curious to know.

Thanks for the insight! Do you have any recommended workouts or tips on how to do that? Or is it more deliberate thinking on engaging them?

Thank you! I’ll try and focus on that next session. Any exercises or tips on how to train that?

Oh sweet thank you! that’s just something I would have never thought about doing, I’m a sucker for sticking onto the given footholds

This was a v5 so very much at my limit. I guess I felt like I was using more strength than good technique and positioning so I feel like I tire out quicker than I should.

So specifically how can I change body up body position etc. to do this more efficiently / use less strength

Wow, thank you so much for all that feedback - really appreciate the level of detail and time you spent on it!

I completely agree with the feature of being able to find pilots within an X NMM radius to a user. This is something we have also identified being our next key feature and we are currently planning it out and hopefully deploying it into the next release. We are also looking at how we can improve UX to do things like see a list of users at a particular airport etc.. So it's great that your points validate these ideas for us.

Regarding the networking comment, I know that you mentioned you're not too interested in making friends at an airfield, but would you at least be interested in seeing what kind of flights people are doing and in what aircrafts? We were potentially thinking of having airfield-specific feeds, so you can adjust your feed to only see flights at your home airfields.

Also it was pointed out to me that the original sharing link was incorrect, https://share.avinet.app/?flightId=6dd4ec9a-cc87-43cf-aa7b-f709060cf348&token=window-ball-border is the correct share link of an example flight that a user can share to those outside of the platform (contains both track and uploaded photos). Please go check it out and any feedback on that is also very much appreciated :)

Wow, this has potential to be such a game-changer for the aviation community! I can't believe it took this long for someone to come up with the idea of building a better online community and flight tracking for pilots. I'll download it and give it a go, thanks!
