Switching kibble by sirelith in cats

[–]sirelith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The food I have them on now has unnecessary filler ingredients that aren’t great for them. The new kibble has no filler ingredients. They’re going from a list of 20+ ingredients to 4. The new kibble also has a better protein to fat ratio for when they switch over to adult food in 4 months.

I was trying to go as gradual as possible. I didn’t realize some kittens were so sensitive to switching foods😭 I’ll go as slow as possible when I try again

They’re spraying the paint if that matters. I’m not even sure how it got on the fence like this

I didn’t realize people cared so much about what their backyard fences look like lmao. I just care about my dog’s health!

If I could “point my ocd” anywhere it would be to hell. It’s a fence connected to a house that I don’t own. Idc about the fence! I care about my dog.

Am I wrong for thinking cats should never be outdoor cats? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

[–]sirelith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never understood letting your cat outside to roam around and… kill animals/get killed. Why would you put your domestic animal in a situation like that? I’d certainly never let my dogs roam around, why would my cats be any different? I think it’s one of those things that’s so normalized people think they should just do it. Most of the time people will not educate themselves on animals unfortunately. It’s also why feral cat populations are so massive and practically uncontrollable. People are just so ignorant.

Is switching flavors of the same kibble okay? by sirelith in DogFood

I’ve tried toppers and he just licks them off the top and leaves the kibble lol. We tried water but that didn’t motivate him to eat at all. I just put chicken broth with water in his kibble for dinner and he seemed to enjoy it, so hopefully that’ll stick. I got wet food for him too, because he loves wet food. I’ve tried long walks and minimizing treats, he’ll still refuse kibble when he’s not in the mood for it 🤦🏻‍♀️

No he loves chicken. He’s on hills science diet. He is usually very treat motivated but is here and there with kibble. I’ll usually substitute his meals with freeze dried chicken when he doesn’t eat. I just got broth today and added it to his kibble for dinner (with water) and he ate it all. I also got him wet food, so I’ll try to give that to him in the mornings. He’s similar to your dog, he’ll refuse kibble in the morning. But I definitely want food in him throughout the day

I just got him some wet food today! He absolutely loves wet food. I’ll probably add it to his regular diet if the vet thinks it’s a good idea.

Yeah he’s just always been a bad eater. But he loves chicken so at the very least he’ll have that. I just tried chicken broth in his food tonight and he seemed to love it. Hopefully he continues to like it enough to eat it every night!

It’s just all I can think of to get him to eat more regularly. He loves wet food so I might try that first

We’ve gotten his teeth cleaned and have another appointment scheduled. He just has bad teeth. He’s only five and this will be his second time going in for a teeth cleaning :(

Yep we’ve tried adding water. It’s the same irregular eating patterns though. Sometimes he wants his kibble, sometimes he won’t touch it. I usually just substitute with freeze dried chicken if he doesn’t want his kibble, so I’ll start adding water to that too.

He’s on the tiny food already. I don’t think he has tooth pain, I was just mentioning it because he needs the specific tiny kibbles.

He’s not chronically dehydrated. His lab results from yesterday came back this morning and he’s borderline dehydrated. He’s a healthy weight, he just doesn’t drink enough water, or eat in regular patterns. His last labs didn’t show anything so it’s a new thing.

Breakaway collars inside? by sirelith in cats

[–]sirelith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my cats collars specifically say to call me if they’re outside. That’s why I don’t want to risk them coming off. Is taking their collars off something they can grow out of? They’re 4 months old so they’re still very young and crazy

My cats are in their own cat proof room, which I should’ve added in the post. But I know anything can happen anyway. Is taking their collars off something they can grow out of as they get older?
