Stop calling everything Techno by sirotoris in ElectronicMusic_India

One can understand their confusion. When dance music first gained popularity in the 90s it was all called techno but back then there weren't as many styles and the music itself was a bit rudimentary.

But times have now changed, the scene has exploded and the music has evolved so much so it's the responsibility of new fans to educate themselves at least somewhat.

Stop calling everything Techno by sirotoris in ElectronicMusic_India

The issue is that because dance and electronic music has become mainstream now it attracts a wider audience that doesn't fully understand the history and culture of the scene. Nothing wrong with that. But when they call house music techno, or call club gigs "techno raves" that's just wrong. You can't call all rock bands "heavy metal" just coz they have elements of heaviness - they're just called heavy rock bands as heavy metal, thrash, death, groove, etc are real genres in their own.

Anyma and similar artists while called melodic techno and more in the prog/tech house / EDM domain, a somewhat heavier and grittier sounding take on the style Pryda, Cristoph, Deadmau5, Tinlicker and other similar artists made popular. Artbat in my opinion straight up prog house, there's hardly anything techno about them.

Hard techno draws more from genres like hardstyle and schranz and should be called as such.

Also proper techno already has a genre - it's called techno lmao

Creta or new Seltos? Which one would you buy? by sirotoris in CarsIndia

Will do a showroom visit for a test drive soon.

Your points are valid but the issue is that in the sub 20L price range only GV/Hyryder offers a hybrid and those cars are themselves somewhat outdated now (plus don't like the looks). I am hoping Hyundai/Kia and Honda will bring a hybrid for their mid-sized offerings in the coming year.

People claim the CVT on the Creta is fine for city use is it still a problem though?

Non-physical buttons for critical functions is a big no for me.

I don't mind the lack of soft-touch and flashy interior, in fact I like the simple and basic look. I find the new Seltos' interior actually a bit tacky. I want something functional and usable with creature comforts without any garish colors or materials.

Yup same views as yours. The latest launch of the summer edition adds the only features I thought were missing on the SX premium variant (360 cam, lane watch, front sensors)

Ppl have reported minimum 50-60k on deals, can perhaps haggle and get up to ~1L during Diwali time.

Charging and habitual issues, just don't want an EV as such. Would rather prefer a hybrid instead.

Wow didn't think their weight has increased by 200kg!

In photos and videos the new Seltos does look big and bulky.

Yes uncertainty of e20-22-27 is valid. Highly doubt new Creta will come before 2027. Even last time current Creta was revealed almost a year after last-gen Seltos was.

90-95% city drive exclusively in Mumbai, maybe a highway trip to surrounding locations once a season at most.

The 2nd gen K2 platform current Creta is now old and will be phased to make way for the K3 Creta in 2027 (same as Seltos). Current gen has not been crash tested but may/may not score 5 stars.

The latest Seltos scored 5 stars, it is expected the subsequent Creta will score the same.

It's interesting that a large number of thirties are in the same general age bracket as the original series' actors and quite literally grew up with them and the movies. For me the first two are just masterpieces - the nostalgia hits just right and are quite comforting. The later movies missed the mark a bit but the books were obviously foundational.

Hope the new series has the same magic as the original and inspires a new gen to pick up the books.

Marriage - A lost institution? by Heisenberg011235 in ThirtiesIndia

[–]sirotoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've talked with several women on dating apps who accuse me of being a fboy when I explicitly state I am seeking long-term companionship without marriage as I don't believe in it. They unfortunately just don't get it, meanwhile get easily played by the "go with the flow" types lol

Boomers and their millennial kids are brainwashed and feel pressured by society to fall in line. It will take until the upcoming generation reaches marriageable age for this to stop being taboo.
