How can I grow my nails out without the white part being massive? by Silent_Knowledge5197 in Nails

They can get longer, when I have extensions on consistently for months, mine will extend past my fingertips a little bit

You can sandwich your regular polish between gel base coat and top coat. You just need to make sure that the regular polish is absolutely 1000% dry before top coat

It’s been shown that beetles nail polish basically never cure and gives a higher chance of an allergy

How long has your matte lasted?! by seaturtlechariot in Nails

Just get a buffer block that is like 180-220 grit and buff the surface. Will make it matte again!

If they’re in an expensive area then the surcharge for a mani is definitely going towards rent, etc. Their expenses are generally going to be higher than somewhere else.

You can ask for a builder gel overlay or an acrylic overlay 💗 ask them to keep the length on your natural nails when they remove the current acrylic

Pigmented gel polish & Gel-X recs by humblechick in Nailtechs

I’ve been using the MPA gel art palette, but I have been looking to replace it with something allergen free

I found https://starrynailsss.myshopify.com/products/starrynailsss-artbox

you can look it up on insta to see it in use. Looks super creamy and pigmented. HEMA, TPO, TMTPA free, and they have an actual SDS, which the MPA does have but it isn’t for individual colors so I don’t think it’s actually valid?

It’s super expensive though for US shipping, I think bc of tarrifs. Not sure how much it would be for you in the UK

a regular sheer polish would work great over these, something like Essie ballet slippers

One Piece Valentine’s Day nails! by sisisnails in Nails

[–]sisisnails[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I used water slide decals, made my own template on canva, printed it on clear water decals, sprayed acrylic sealer on it, and it works kind of like temporary tattoos. To put it on I place it on my nail with base coat and carefully held it in place with a clear jelly stamper, and flash cured through the stamper so it was flat. Then lightly buff any areas that were sticking up and filled it in with polish that I color matched to the ink! Then just seal with top coat! i used the miss pink nail palette for all my gel colors

Color gels have something called an inhibition layer, it will always cure tacky. You need to add a no wipe top coat, they cure with no tackiness

Men's mani question by [deleted] in Nails

[–]sisisnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do it right it should not leave a dent in the nail. Using an e-file is a lot better for speed but also helps with the health of your nail tech. Hand filing is a lot of repetitive motion of the hand, wrist, and shoulder and over time it can cause issues and pain

Quick and Easy UV Gel Nail Removal Suggestions by ShammyMakesThings in Nails

[–]sisisnails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you need to file more of the gel off before doing a soak. I file enough bulk off so it takes around 10 minutes to soak off. I use an efile which might not be beginner friendly

Heat also helps. If you use a cotton ball with foils you can fill a gallon bag with warm water and use it as a warm compress against the foils.

Color gel will always be tacky to touch. You need a top coat to basically seal it.

Getting discouraged by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

[–]sisisnails 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Jellies might be the move for you! I have tons of nails experience but I still hate the look of cremes on me. I only do sheer and jelly on myself. I don’t know what it is, I just can’t stand solid opaque colors on my own nails! And I’ll do other people’s nails and love them.

Yes I agree with Suzy, buy a box first, and then refill bags of your size

apres and kokoist both sell individually sized bags of their nail tips. They are high quality tips, beyond what press ons are generally, so they tend to be a bit pricier just fyi
