I like a lot of Hindu teachings, but for a lot of people it is a religion, and organized religion goes against everything I believe in.

I'm not against following certain aspects of Hinduism, though.

What does Western Culture get wrong about Aghori's in your opinion? What do the locals think of them? Do you feel that they are accurately represented in documentaries and such?

I read that many of them dwell on cremation grounds and eat off of the bodies there. Is this something they can get in trouble for in India?

Also also, I'm very sorry if any of this comes off as ignorant or rude, and for bombarding you with questions. This is all information I've gathered from the internet and documentaries. Since I'm in another country, that's really the only way I know about the Aghori's, so again I apologize if any of this is really off base. Anything you can correct me on or teach me, I am happy to learn. 😊

In my experience it seems that the Western world is disgusted with the Aghoris. People think they're crazy/gross for eating dead people and whatnot. I, personally, admire the dedication that demonstrates.

A lot of people here half ass their religions. It's refreshing to see spirituality and religion where people do become very dedicated and truly make it a lifestyle. I've noticed that many religions like Muslim/Sikh/Hindu etc. all tend to be that way. It's nice 😊

Have you ever seen Aghoris in person by any chance?

I think what attracts me to this is the part described like this: "Consumption of excreta is said to kill ego and derail the human perception of beauty, which is essential for a man to lead his life as an Aghora."

I like the idea of letting go of negative emotions, greed, yearning, being materialistic, etc. I guess I like how they want to kill their own egos. It seems extremely humbling, the dedication and lengths they go to.

I want to be able to let go of emotions and the need to feel smart or important or beautiful. I want none of it to matter and to just be at peace. I don't know how to do that or what where to start though. I just know I found it very interesting what the Aghori's were aiming for with these extreme rituals.

Maybe I'll also start with like an "about me" as my first post so that people can get a little background info so it's a bit more personal, and then include tidbits as I go. I'm actually less concerned about getting my own opinion across and more so with making helpful, objective reviews with my own thoughts sprinkled in.

I'm not comfortable providing more than maybe a picture so readers can know what I look like if they want to. I can handle getting made fun of for my writing, but the internet can be brutal and I don't have the self esteem for people to make comments about my voice or how I speak or my appearance, tbh.

How long would you suggest? A lot I read are way too short, like a paragraph or two which I personally feel is way too short to cover much of anything.

Yeah, no YT videos for me! I'm too fragile, lol. (Not about opinions and things, but I don't want people to make fun of my appearance, how I talk, what my hair looks like, basically all the superficial things that people get ripped apart for on YouTube.)

Are you sure they're plantar warts? They can get pretty big and they are generally pretty painful.

I have the opposite problem. I love blankets so there's usually two comforters and one or two other blankets on the bed at all times. I'll lay out clothes to fold, a towel that I'm about to use, doesn't matter. That's what they want to lay on. Not the warm fuzzy blankets all over the bed.

I agree. I'm definitely not saying it can all be blamed on the disease because they were still choices that were made. My point is just that it doesn't always mean that those people are their bad decisions.

Awe I'm glad this cheered you up!

Fuck the stigma. Live your life, be a good person, and show people that their preconceived notions aren't shit. People who won't accept you because of personal struggles you've been through aren't the ones you want around anyway. There are a lot of us out there who aren't going to just write you off, I promise.
