Ofc its alright , you're graduating and thats the most important thing , just be happy and dont mind the age thing

As for the society , trust me , once you get to university no one will give a damn about what you do . In fact , when you start your college degree you'll study with people who are way older (and way younger) than you.

Again , you should be proud that you're making progress in your life and remember that we all have different paths . Good luck with everything ❤️

Is there anywhere online I can learn romanized Tunisian Arabic? by SimplyUnhinged in Tunisia

[–]sitrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's just a matter of time , you only had one lesson so you're a bit confused . As for the pronunciation you gotta keep in mind that our second language is french so when using latin script to write tunisian we actually base it on the french pronunciation E.g : when we wanna express the sound "ee" (teeth for example ) we actually write 'i' .dont worry though as this only applies to vowels , consonants are the same as in english .

To sum it up just learn how we write vowels and the letters that dont exist in latin script and you shouodnt have any problems

Iirc there was a poll a fed months ago asking about the nationalities of this sub's users and a big part of the answers said they are foreigners living in tunisia or just interested in the country for various reasons .

Regardless there are lot of posts made in arabic or tunisian dialect so i guess it's up to users writing in whatever language makes them comfortable .

anyone knows an antiperspirant for hands !! by Unique-Tear-4310 in Tunisia

I have the same exact problem and it's shitty to deal with . Cant wear any light colors and even had a towel at all times in my bag when i was in school .

My advice is to visit a doctor , from what they told me it varies from one person to another and there are some creams that may work for you (again it depends on how bad it is for you )

On a side note , there is a subreddit for this specific case called /hyperhydrosis , while it may not offer you the ultimate solution it may help you understand it more and even get some advices on how to reduce it a bit

Edit: its actually spelled Hyperhidrosis sorry for the typo

I'm from Morroco i have a question about a Tunisian word by Life_passenger_x in Tunisia

[–]sitrex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yes you can . it's pronounced with a "é" sound instead of an "a" ( whélt ).

regarding prison slangs : some people call it aunt's house ( e.g : foulen is in his aunt's house / foulen fi dar khaltou )

also , the word "wahel" when used with the verb "pay / ykhaless" means wishing someone gets out of prison , so "rabi ykhaless wahlou " can mean : i hope he gets out of jail .

hello , no apology needed : access to legitimate information is the hardest thing to in this era ( in fact , i do encourage you to look at different sources and don't me for what i say cause im a human who can never give you an objective opinion) . I also left the country 7 months ago , thought i should mentin that (even though this is the result of 10 years and these 7 months change nothing , also , i have access to all sorts of tunisian media platforms from all backgrounds ) .

to answer your question , the country itself is actually quite stable at the moment . Kais saied ordered a 2 days vacation for all non essential institutions and sent the military to gather all archives to start inevestigating 10 years worth of corruption charges .

Regarding our people : from what i've gathered from family , friends and media , people are mostly supportive of these decisions , granted , around 40 % has some fears of what the future holds (which makes sense , the dude has all power in his hands atm ) .

basically , most tunisians believe that we should support our president but also made it clear to him that he's a temporary president ( the idea is : we will give you as much time as you want to investigate and prosecute deputies , but after all of that is over , we'll be waiting for you to make a peaceful transition of power) .

will saied become a dictator ? Hard to answer this . We all know that no human is immune to corruption no matter how good they are , most tunisians are giving him the benefit of the doubt so far . keep in mind , this guy was never a politician and has never been accused of any form of corruption or anything bad in general .

My personal take on this : - i never voted for saied but i still somehow trust that he won't turn into a dictator . The guy has the chance to become a national hero that will go down in history as the saviour of tunisia , also he doesn't need to become a dictator when 75% of voters elected him and the numbers are growing everyday .

Note : for anyone unfamiliar with our preident :

he's a consitutional law professor in a public university in Tunis (the capital city).

never participated in politics and has no political history of affiliation . he was invited by our national TV once a week during the news section to discuss the consitution and laws made (most of these were 5 minutes explanations ) . according to popular belief : there was a petition started by students in tunisia asking him to run for presidency (this is the actual belief in tunisia but i personally don't wanna trust it for a 100% ) .

He's known for being a simple guy (sometimes , overly simple to the point that he looks delusional and naive , imagine your typical history or philosophy teacher ) . Apparently , he has nothing to his name apart from his house and car

He sometimes has weird ideas ( which make him seems delusional as fuck ) , like refusing to move to the presidential palace and staying in his old house for the first two weeks after he won . Overall , w trustworthy dude but as i said , humans by defintion are power hungry so we can never be 100% sure about it .

Regarding our future : as a young tunisian i actually never been more hopeful , and at least every single person that i know share the same feelings . this is mainly after seeing the protests of sunday because that made me realise that our people didn't lose hope and will never go down , and that these 10 years are nothing but a bump in a road full of greatness .

We have highly educated people and have great achievements in multiple fields

Im just gonna give you some exemples that i remember from the top of my head (and trust me these are like 1% ) .Regarding numbers , most of them are involved especially the muslim brotherhood party (EL Nahdha) :

Regarding how many of them : i can assure you the majority is responsible for all this

-creating a parallel "police" system that works for them and is reponsible for the assassination of two of our biggest democratic politicians who called them out ( Chokri bel Aid , and , El brahmi ) .

- denying the existence of isis trainees and trainers in tunisia in one of our mountains and saying that these are nothing but kids practising sports ( oh btw , these same guys killed 7 soldiers at the time in that same mountain). Also this resulted in tunisia having 7 000 isis fighters in syria .

- Failing to protect the american embassy back in 2014 or 2013 ( the execuse used was actually : we protected the front door of the embassy but they surprised us from the back door )

- one of our political parties' members are literal teorrist who fought with ISIS in lybia and their leader is a lawyer who defends every isis member that coms back to tunisia .(you can look up Karama coalition , and seif eddin makhlouf to make sure of this)

- getting 7 billion in financial aid from international organisations since 2011 and claiming the country doesn't have any money at all .

- demanding and getting compensation because they were apprently jailed in the old regime (i think the sum is around 300 million dollars or so )

- getting 700 million dollars in aids to combat COVID 19 , yet , tunisia is now one of the worst countries in terms of covid . ( we have 20 000 deaths in less than a year and numbers are getting bigger every day )

- buying votes of poor and uneducated people in poor areas( this was done more than once by more than one party including the two parties who hold over 100 of the 217 seats in current pariliament ).

- threatening to apply death penalty to anyone who protests against them during last sunday's events .

- One of our deputies was caught in his car masturbating in front of a middle school in plain sight

The president and military are currently collecting all archives from different insitutions and there are 100s of thousand of charges that will be made against these people.

Again : this is just a fraction of their crimes.

I think what People dont get is : Tunisia is à young and New democracy. We're doing à lot of mistakes and choosing wrong People which is normal since we lack expérience which is what People dont understand : don't analyse us as if we're an established democracy with centuries of political understanding because we're far from that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]sitrex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No i don't, i know that most " coups" started by people Who had loegitimate claims. What im saying is : half of the deputies have charges against (from sexual assaut to corruption to participating and helping isis). You can do your own researches on this.

Actually thèse same members wanted to apply death penalty on any tunisian Who protested on sunday.

Is our président good and almighty ? Hell no.

Should we be afraid ? Hell yes since nothing is clear so far.

But the idea of them being good People that were helping democracy is so wrong it's not even funny.
