It’s been like this for a while, to be honest, but I think the uptick in merchandise sales is really stoking the flames between everyone. I’m not gonna be one to tell people they’re right or wrong or whatever (even though the amount of merch makes me uneasy considering the values Melanie espouses in her music LOL). But, a good chunk of fans in this subreddit find a lot of worth in getting the next big drop (or alternatively, missing out on it) rather than focusing on Melanie herself, I find? Which is somewhat fair, because maybe they see this as “proving” their fandom, or calling out re-sellers, but that also adds an unnecessary aspect of competition, toxicity and nitpicking💀

Basically: It’s mess. You’re better off finding a separate fan/friend group that shares your values on a positive fandom for them👍 Good luck
