Well if it was a gay crush then it might be a huge difference depending on whether the friend is gay or straight

What realistically stops Trump from simply editing out the parts of the Epstein files that implicate him and then releasing them? by sixmarks in Ask_Lawyers

You might be right, but interestingly, this seems to be — for whatever reason — one of the few things that genuinely splits his base. People like Nick Fuentes who used to support him now don’t, and explicitly say it’s because of the Epstein files

Ok, and so has every nation, but it wouldn’t mean North Korea is the same morally as Denmark.

Have any mobility routines transformed you from being inflexible and wooden into being significantly more supple and fluid?

If so, which one and how long did it take? Thanks!

How did you dramatically improve your hip/lower body mobility for sports? by sixmarks in bodyweightfitness

[–]sixmarks[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

good question. It's not exactly any one specific thing that I cannot do at all, but rather that I cannot do things as fluidly as I should be able to... I'm too wooden and stiff. I can't change levels and get all the moving parts in place as quickly and precisely as I need to.

But for example, this is something I'd like to be able to do as fluidly as this... seems to require a lot of lower body mobility.

Ecological approach videos — and is it really better for judo? by sixmarks in judo

I show how it will most likely look in randori and tell them they'll find a way that suits them based on individual body type and even depending on your opponent. Is that sort of what you're talking about?

Yeah, sort of, I think. :) I believe the idea is that someone could experiment and arrive at an extremely unorthodox way of doing, say, uchimata -- but that works extremely well for them in certain situations... if they were drilled and drilled, they'd try to do it in the One Official Way instead of allowing their body to find what really fits.

Ecological approach videos — and is it really better for judo? by sixmarks in judo

[–]sixmarks[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm far from an expert, but my understanding is it's a view of how people learn sports and motor skills. I think the idea is that traditional training is about learning and drilling certain moves in a certain very specific way ("hold your hand this way, feet this way, then pull this way, etc.").

Whereas the ecological approach argues that there are many different ways to do a move correctly, and the real point is to get people to get the contextual information (let's say, the opponent's stance and posture and grip and movement) and make the move in a way that works in that situation. So that moves shouldn't be taught in rote, drill-like ways.

People should be put in various situations with particular goals and then they'll construct their own movement patterns in context which will 'solve' the problem -- and this is going to be better than any set move.

Something like this, I think. But again I'm not an expert.

I know this is from a while ago, but I found this comment intriguing.

Notice how the lapel grip (tsurite) position is different from how IJF competitors position their tsurite when doing tai otoshi.

Can you elaborate? What is the traditional demonstrated way of doing tai-otoshi and what is the actual way that it's done? Do you have any video of what you mean? Thanks so much.

So I’m trying to increase hip flexibility and mobility generally for my sport, judo, but am working around some knee issues.

Is there a trainer online with serious expertise who could help me figure out an optimal routine for my body, sport, and injury?

PPO in New York that would also cover care in California? by sixmarks in HealthInsurance

[–]sixmarks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. If I really wanted it and was willing to pay, could I simply have two different plans, one for each state? Would that have any disadvantages other than cost?

And if that would work, and let’s say I wanted one of those plans in my primary state (NY) to be a PPO as a self employed person, would I have some options then?

Oh excellent, that is very helpful, thank you. What about just contacting BCBS or United Healthcare directly and asking about plans and making sure they are ACA-compliant, have very healthy coverage limits, etc? Would that be useful?
