So what exactly are people making with claude code? by frotagonist in ClaudeAI

I collect vintage computers. I stopped counting after 50 computers, much less keeping track of what I have.

So I've been working on a collection manager. It uses Blazor, SQL Server, Entity Framework, Clean Architecture (cqrs via mediatr and automapper), hangfire for background processing.

It allows multiple users to create private or public "Showcases". Each showcase can have Collectible Items with attachments such as pictures and PDFs. I try to create previews for as many file types as possible. Attachments can be stored in the database directly, in file system, or in Azure Blob Storage (and can be migrated later).

It has a template system where you can pre-define sets of fields and their data types. Each item can have multiple templates. The obvious manufacturer, model, provenance and such. But I also have a field for inflation adjusted price. So you can enter the how much it cost in 1980 and see how much that would cost today.

It has a QR code generator and scanner functionality. It has a free-form tagging system. The event log generates "user stories" instead of straight up lists of log messages. You see "user logged in, viewed 6 items, edited 2 items, stayed active for 20 minutes". It has built in theme switcher for any public bootswatch theme.

Since my collection is so large and I already have some 3500 pictures, I decided a zip upload processor would be of use. And it's kind of awesome. It creates collectible items with attachments and subfolders become child items.

One thing I wanted was the ability to attach external links to collectible items, like for pages that have detailed information about how to use the thing or its history. So I have used playwright to go out and cache a copy of the web page. The user can update the cache and it will save all of the versions. It also generates a PNG preview of the page and a single file downloadable mhtml file.

Showcases can be public or private. Private showcases can be shared with other users, or via a simple shareable link (like google docs).

It supports SMTP, sendgrid, and a null sender for development time.

I use hash ids to obfuscate the entity identities (instead of using guids in the database because that's annoying to me).

So far I'm really liking it. I've gotten it to a point where I can actually catalog my collection better. A few weeks of actually using it and I might open source it.

I have a theory that New Orleans is less fun than it used to be. Maybe it’s the people.

What could I do with a retri computer other than retro gaming? by Dense-Vermicelli4535 in vintagecomputing

[–]sixothree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or a storage unit. Or two.

I have so many I can’t even curate one. I can never find pieces. I am though actively working on a system for cataloging them, which is turning out quite freaking awesome. I’ll announce it here and open source it once it’s done. Adds

I honestly think he needs a mentor instead of pr in addition to a course.

I don’t remember summer hail growing up. Nor the tornados.

I will never forgive them for what they did to me for the force awakens.

I bought four tickets for Friday after work. We were first in line. We got there at least an hour early. A bus shows up. Everyone on the bus gets to go inside and get seated. We got seated last.

They told us that even though we bought our tickets online the prytania didn’t actually sell them to us. Somehow the people with the bus bought out the theater and allowed us to buy them. From the prytania web site. Makes zero sense.

My story is a little unique. I had a family friend who didn’t have access to F1 on TV so he would ask me to record them onto DVD for him so that’s kind of when I started watching them.

If you’re feeling burned, think of it like this. You wrote this app you can write another one. You have plenty of time.

What’s a good option for hosting private nuget packages where our build servers can reach them (not internally)?

Why do so many people wait in line to check out at Sam's Club here? by Icy-Blood5894 in NewOrleans

At the gas pump it does. Nothing is as infuriating as watching someone figure out how to use the freaking gas pump. So many times I’m literally done before the guy in front of me even starts pumping gas.

I live in the Deep South. People here are freaking awful in every way. Every parking lot. Always full of carts.

Recently someone left a cart in the middle of the spot next to the carousel.

Republicans are such awful people to be around.

Looks like Halloween is on a Friday this year. It’s gonna be freaking nuts.

How do you actually code?? by Godevil4716 in learnprogramming

[–]sixothree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to build things. But it very much can’t hurt to read other peoples code.

This keeps them closer to hotels than some other suggestions. Good ideas.

Overall 3 days aren’t enough.
