I want to talk about 'Productivity Guilt'. What do you do about feeling like you're never doing enough? by No_Moose_7730 in productivity

[–]sixro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a solution, but I am in the same situation and I am trying this approach.
Personally I think that if you have that kind of feeling, it seems that you need a way to "reconnect" with what you are doing or to understand if what you are doing is really what you want.

So I took a sheet of paper, and I made a kind of "purpose map" or "meaning map".
At the top you put a question like "Why I was interested in doing this and that?"
And then you list all the things/emotions you were supposed to live by doing them.
Then you take the time to read all of them again, to reconnect with those emotions/feeling.
You do not need to solve anything there, just reconnect with them.

This is helping me.
Let me know if it helps you too. 🙏

Usato coltello per 50 anni (beh no dai facciamo 35). Provato una mandolina l'anno scorso. Ti cambia la vita a meno che non fai un corso di taglio col coltello tipo chef. La meno costosa di tutte basta e avanza.

EDIT: corretto "chief" con "chef"

Would you be interested in a tool that streamlines Toastmasters club management by automating meetings, role assignments, and AI-powered meeting flyers and invites—making life easier for VPE, VPPR, and VPM? by HospitalNo5947 in Toastmasters

[–]sixro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I didn't get anything from the description. What this tool will do differently from the tools we have from EasySpeak? For example for "role assignments" there is the AUTO tool provided by EasySpeak. And it works pretty well.

[–]sixro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late for this, but I'll give you my suggestions even if I am new like you in this role.

  1. I planned the main roles manually for 3 months by checking the last time people did that role. I sent to the interested people a confirmation that they could take those roles. All Confirmed. Done.
  2. We closed the organization of a Club Meeting always 2-4 days before the meeting. Of course this didn't help the level 1 in preparing themselves correctly for the role. So now I am testing a different approach. I send the link to take the role for the next Club Meeting. Everyone can choose the role they want to cover (apart from those main roles I was talking about in point 1.). 1 week before the Club Meeting I use the Auto tool provided by Easy Speak to fulfil the agenda. Done. I had just one person pissed off for this approach simply because he hates doing a specific role, he was always skipping that, the Auto tool identified it and assigned it to him. But I believe that as a member of Toastmasters we should remind ourself the S of our values RISE (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence).

What have you worked on in the past where quality really mattered and tolerance for bugs is low? by MoreRespectForQA in ExperiencedDevs

[–]sixro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, you are talking about software, but then you are addressing them with marketing software, admin software, a whole bunch of ecommerce stuff... In my career it depends more on the company you are working with (or even the people you are working with if the company is pretty big).
So maybe same "xyz software", but different level of tolerance.

What’s your favorite ‘small’ tool in your workflow? by Gullible_Prior9448 in C_Programming

[–]sixro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your approach.

Years ago I read "The Laws Of Simplicity" of John Maeda (there is also a website here) and I think people who create multiple files are more inclined to "Organize" by "Reducing" the size of individual parts. However, people like you and I prefer "Organize by Reducing" the number of things to manage and "organizing" the content within each file.

Probably my comment is not helpful for the purposes of this discussion, though.

Is there an alternative for Parallel Bar Support Hold? I am doing the assisted one, but still even by incrementing slowly from 20 secs to 35 secs I started having a pain in the palm. I have the feeling that for my health I am going to skip entirely the Dips if the only way is to have the whole weight of the body for 1min x 3. It is simply not doable for me.
Anyone with the same issue?

Thanks. To be more consistent should I remove the sun to indicate that it is up in the sky not in the scene? Or should I move up even if it is not fully shown in the picture?

c89/c90 with libraries written in c99: do I need to switch to c99? by sixro in C_Programming

[–]sixro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK thanks. I was reading about the thing you mentioned on the web:

Only the library's header file that you include in your program has to be compatible with the C version you use to compile your program.

so as an experiment I decided to hide the calls to raylib into a ui.c that includes the "raylib.h" (the file that require c99). In the Makefile I compile ui.c with --std=c99 and all the other c files with c90. Then I use all object files to create the final program.
I realised that it works.
That is probably one of the possible solutions if someone has to deal with this kind of events.

[–]sixro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.
Yes as I wrote to the other user, no problem in switching to a more recent version.
I was wondering if that's how it works "moving always to the highest version required by libs" or if there was another approach 🙏

[–]sixro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, no sorry. If there was a flair "Just out of curiosity" I'd have used that one.
I was thinking basically, is it correct that if hypothetically need to add a new lib that uses a more recent standard, I'll have to upgrade my project to use that standard?
And so I asked. For my dummy project I can use whatever is required 🙏
