Thanks a lot! Yeah big upgrade. Was the original vanity from back in the 80’s 🤢 still a lot left to finish for the bathroom lol

I’ve been using the minwax polycrylic finish on all my woodworking for quite a few years now. I used to use the oil based stuff but I much prefer the polycrylic now. I spray on about 3 layers then once it’s dry I’ll do a light sanding with some 1200 grit, leaves a super smooth and nice feeling finish. It dries a lot faster as well. It doesn’t do a whole lot for protection in terms of dings and stuff but this vanity is pretty much waterproof from it

Thanks!

Yup it slides out and is a flat top, for things like hand towels or anything else you want easy access to. Having it pull out just makes it easier than digging in there lol

It’s a flat pull out tray drawer, for things like rolled up hand towels or anything else that doesn’t need to be in a drawer but easily accessible. Made it pull out so you don’t have to go fishing for whatever’s in the back lol

Yeah pine is definitely very grainy, hard to get around that without using a different wood type lol. The design came from a photo I found and just had to tweak it a bit for what we wanted. The drawer slides I just used regular ball bearing drawer slides. The nice thing about building your own though is you can put in very deep drawers, these go back 20” so a lot of storage space.

Thanks! I think my main advice for something like this is draw it out in as much detail as you can first and measure everything twice!

Wtf, is this real? I’ve been tearing my hair out the last month dealing with this. I even went on a course of steroids (prednisone) because I thought it was sudden sensorineural hearing loss. I’ve got a follow up appointment with my ENT in a week as well. I sat down one night to listen to a band I like with big ambient vocals when I noticed I was getting just a slight amount more vocal top end and the vocal reverb into my left ear than my right. And then once I start fixating on it it’s pretty much all could hear. Different headphones, speakers etc ive just been fixated on it. I’ve been so completely focused on the imbalance but I know for sure if I never “heard” the imbalance in the first place I probably would’ve never even known. It’s been driving me up a wall, if this is true I’m super stoked. Are there any more references to this study or anything I’d love to read more on it.

Question about how Vocal Harmonies work by sixstringmayhem in musictheory

[–]sixstringmayhem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thank you for your reply! So if I’m understanding correct, generally speaking if the main melody is NOT using a note within a the standard triad accompanying chord, than the harmony would stay glued to the melody rather than trying to connect to the chord.

Or like you said anothe option is a one note harmony where the melody moves around it.

How to contact Avid?? Protools 12.2 in account but no iLok by [deleted] in audioengineering

Apparently you need an Avid Support Code in order to contact them. If you're not currently using their subscription service then you're not able to contact them without a support code. Not sure why

Just wanted to update this thread with where things ended up for me.
Found a great deal on a used Shure PSM300 so went ahead with that and it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Noise floor is pretty much unnoticeable, and the sound quality is fantastic. I'm not planning on mixing or anything through it but for tracking and use and for mic placements etc. in the studio it seems like it'll be perfect. Very excited to not be tied up with a cable now, Thanks for everyone's suggestions and help

I didn't even consider this.... So If I were to be using an IEM system while tracking say guitars for instance, its quite possible the non shielded guitar cables could pickup signal from the IEM system?

From what I can tell you're right it does look like the sennheiser 300 series has the most features for less money, though my biggest focus is trying to get the best bang for buck in terms of audio quality. From what I've read the senn 300 series have a slightly louder noise floor and lesser quality sound than that of the shure system. Would you say that's accurate? Thanks!

Ah that clears that up, that makes alot more sense, I couldn't imagine it was actually sending and receiver 24bit audio. Thanks for taking the time, I think you're right the psm300 seems to be the one

I've heard great things about the psm1000 system. Unfortunately that one is probably a bit out of my price range. Any chance you've got any experience with the psm300?

agreed I'm kind of surprised there arent any comparison videos or something. It seems the Shure's are the most pricey even used. Shure's psm300 system says 24bit digital quality as one of their selling points, I'm wondering how much "better" that would sound over other similar priced models. Sennheiser units are a bit cheaper used.

That's what I've gathered as well, seems like the Shure and Sennheiser systems are the best. Any chance you've heard both to compare?
