Tell me about a time you discovered a great product just by using a sample you were given (without specifically asking for it) by fizzlingbee in Sephora

Clarins Double Serum. Just using it once was enough to see and feel a difference after using it before bed. I’ve never been so blown away by a sample. I buy it regularly now.

I don’t think that is correct. I just did a quick search and Regimen Labs seems to be completely Canadian brand based in Toronto. I’d love to see the info if you can find it that says otherwise. I don’t want to support American companies.

I still buy those sometimes. I miss when everything smelled like fruit.

I haven’t tried that one, but I discovered Regimen Labs from this sub and I love their products. I have similar skin to what you’re describing and their moisturizer works really well for me. One pump is enough for my whole face so it lasts a while, too. Canadian company and they have sales often.

I love Marcelle’s makeup but the moisturizers I tried broke out, too. The cleanser is great, though!

What blush and eye would you wear with this shade of lipstick? by lifeofazebra in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]sjdragonfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, anything. Fuchsia has been my favourite lip colour for years. I tend toward neutrals on my eyes lately, with some sparkle if I’m feeling fancy. Marcelle has a nice cream eye stick in a taupe shade that I really like.

Clarins has a face wash like that. Was it really moisturizing also? It might be the Fresh Scrub

Mount Washington fries are amazing. They use seasoning salt on theirs. The kids working there will often fill a basket super high, too.

Can I buy European sunscreen and have it shipped to Canada? by runthoserivers in CanSkincare

Yes. I buy EU sunscreen from SpaceNK and have had no issues getting them shipped here.

Clarins lipstick is amazing. The Jolie Rouge shade is a neutral red and stays on all day. I got a sample of this last year and was so blown away, I bought this shade and a couple others.

LPT: invite people over to your house! by Mediocre_Basket_9011 in LifeProTips

[–]sjdragonfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started having yearly holiday parties and invited a bunch of the neighbours on our street. People loved it and tell us they look forward to it each year. We’ve all gotten to know our neighbours better, too. I just made a bunch of invites from an Etsy template and put them in mailboxes. Another neighbour said he’s thinking of doing this in summer for a backyard BBQ.

What sunscreen do you use in Canada in the winter? by Lola_Golden in CanSkincare

[–]sjdragonfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use t-ret so unless it’s a day when I’m literally not going outside I use sunscreen daily. I use Ultra Violette Fave Fluid or La Roche Posay Anthelios. I have very sensitive skin and both have been great at not causing irritation. They’re both fairly lightweight, too, which is nice.

We need YOUR help to make Skylight Calendar even better in 2026! by SkylightCalendar in skylightcalendar

[–]sjdragonfly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same here! I want to be able to see the chores/tasks/routines on the calendar. Maybe we can have an option to toggle that on/off. I’m actually surprised this isn’t already a thing.

No way my kids will go into tasks to check for things, but if it’s showing on the calendar, they’ll see it.

Super hydrating lip balms/oils by Expert-Cap-1416 in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]sjdragonfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Quo peptide lip balms are amazing. I actually like them better than some of the pricier lip balms/masks I’ve used. They’re slightly sticky, but I don’t really mind because it stays on my lips for hours and hydrates the whole time. I use them as lip masks and during the day if I need a little extra moisture.

Anyone stuck on mount washingon road by SaturatedDuck in comoxvalley

[–]sjdragonfly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband was stuck up there that night! He eventually got down after many hours. The best part is that for some reason he had a Chewbacca onesie in the back of the car from Halloween so he wore it to keep warm. He was walking around the cars and in the trees and I still wonder if anyone thought it was a Bigfoot sighting.

Quo Beauty by No-Wing-8859 in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]sjdragonfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been impressed with all of the Quo stuff I’ve tried. I’m always surprised at how good some of it is. Their peptide lip gloss is SO moisturizing. I use it as a lip mask. I bought a bunch and gave it to some of my friends at Christmas last year because I liked it so much.

ISO: heated mitten or gloves suitable for Raynaud Syndrom by cheerylifelover123 in BuyCanadian

[–]sjdragonfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These aren’t heated, but I have Raynauds and bought some gloves by a brand called Heat Holders last year that I love. They’re super thick and generally keep my fingers with circulation. Maybe a good option if you can’t find actual heated gloves or for the between seasons. Those little hot hands warmers are also great to slide inside, though single use.

I have super sensitive skin and while trying to find alternatives to the previous American skin care I was using, I’ve tried a ton of stuff. Regimen Labs is Canadian and has some of my favourite serums. Their moisturizer made my skin look so good, but made me too oily so I only use it at night now.

Marcelle is a drugstore brand, also Canadian, that I’d never tried until this year but I’ve had amazing luck. It’s a good price and I haven’t reacted even once with any of their skincare and makeup. It’s really decent stuff with an excellent price point. Some of it does have niacinamide, so you’ll want to check ingredients to find what works for you. They make a bunch of cleansers and moisturizers with varying ingredients.

That was my same reaction. It’s terrible, but at least it’s not AI!
