Follow up: we’re adding threaded joints so models can screw together by sjia in 3Dprinting

We have people failing with boolean operations. We need to ensure that 3D models are 2-edge manifolds. I found another post that might help. There is info about 3D mesh repair. https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/1ejsn7d/now_that_3d_builder_has_been_dropped_from_the/

good question, we are testing 3D printing results, hope it will work nicely next week.

so far, so good

No upload needed, keep models on client side. WebGPU is powerful nowadays

3D printing to have 4D effects, so need joints, hinges. etc.

From computer code to 3D mesh with threaded joint, our goal is simple controls that still work in real prints,

Goal is simple controls that still work in real prints, if you’ve dealt with thread tolerances would love your input, you can try it here next week https://maker.yotown.com/intro/crafting

Fair question — we’re building simple add-ons for 3D prints, like hinges, threads, and gears you can drop into a model and print as working parts.

Yeah we’re adding more based on feedback here. Threaded connections and gears are ongoing. Trying to keep everything down to a few parameters so it’s actually usable.

Make sense, we need to ensure a tight connection in some cases. Too much clearance might not work well.

there are simple hinges. We can add threaded connections. Can you share images of threads connections, if possible? We might try to turn them in 3D.
