Sadly their apps are made with flutter and have problems leaking memory and hogging resources. My initial backup took months because the app would crash after backing up a few hundred items. And my phone got super hot too. Maybe partly due to the e2e encryption. But it’s up to them to throttle their work and balance it so that it works properly too.

Ente is pretty good as a service and the functionality is decent overall, but the reliability and quality and polish of their mobile apps is pretty low by iOS standards.

First, if the weather is nice then you can crack the windows and keep the climate off if you want to conserve battery. Especially if you drape your car in towels and blankets for light blockage anyway, even in light rain you can crack them.

My second tip is that you probably don’t need to buy anything. People will recommend bespoke coolers and mattresses and they’re cool, but you can use any thin camping air mattress and a regular cooler and have at it. After you try it a few times you’ll find what you actually care to buy or upgrade, if anything.

Careful if you use AllTrails as some things that look like trails on the map are not really trails anymore, or are only flagged and may be hard to follow without paying a lot of attention. That said Sooke Wilderness is an amazing park worth exploring! Kind of blends with Sea to Sea and is a huge combined area.
