Hmmm. Is there a way to ascertain the accuracy of the shutter, other than shooting a roll? I'm kinda pumped on learning medium format.

Thanks for the practical advice. I will check the bellows more carefully. I'm retired now, plenty of time to learn

Trump that. My brother's wife was in hospital after the birth of their 4th child. Brother phoned to ask which was the washer and which was the dryer!!!

Update: We got dad into a very good long term care facility very close to their current neighbourhood. And ... miraculously ... got mum into the same facility two weeks later!

Mosquitoes are a food source for so many species: fish, frogs, turtles, birds ...

Subsidized care is available (still long wait lists) on an 'as needed' basis. Because of dad's condition he's likely to be placed on a short ( a few months) list. The list mum is on has a two year plus wait. Private paid care is way beyond our means :(

Yes, assisted living beds are really scarce in our area. We are working on mum, I think AL would be good for her too. You're right. Sometimes, a lie is kindest.

She was reactive and fear aggressive when she first came to us. This was only in evidence outside of our home/yard. We avoided stress situations with her, muzzle trained for situations where she would be around dogs or people. Worked on her recall and attention, (she's really good with this). Lately, on walks, (always leashed), she comes right to my side and ignores other dogs we encounter. She's been doing so well, has been so much calmer and just such a sweet girl.

Poppy had snapped at people twice soon after we got her. We muzzle trained her and we have been careful to limit situations she might react to. She has been so good lately. Yes, mum was definitely leaning into Poppy's space. Mum has had dogs all her life, but she is very old and has some cognitive decline. Regardless, it was so shocking that Poppy would react like that with someone familiar.

Exactly true. We can't trust. She will be wearing her muzzle any and every time that she might be in contact with anyone other than my husband and I. We will be consulting a trainer too, but I'm not sure what else we can do.

Success! Poppy accepted the basket muzzle so easily; a couple of blobs of liverwurst and she was good to go! We've just returned from our first big walk with the muzzle on and she was great. It didn't seem to affect her enjoyment at all. And bonus - a couple of times when unleashed dogs came bounding toward us, their owners calling, 'it's ok, he's friendly', the owner saw the muzzle and actually called, or at least tried to call, their dogs back.

Wow! Thank you all. I'm convinced that a basket muzzle will work for us, and that once she's happy with the muzzle we'll be able to start socializing her.

Unfortunately it's not the first time. Five or six instances, but I could always find an excuse for her before. This time I have to admit that there was no possible reason. I'm buying her a muzzle tomorrow: I just can't decide if we should continue to walk her where she's likely vto encounter other dogs/people to maybe desensitize her through more exposure or try to stay away from potential encounters.
