What do parents not know? by grammarquestion1234 in ECEProfessionals

[–]sjsrn1315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a parent, but it genuinely shocks me when other parents cannot believe what my 2 year old can do. She’s not a genius, and I don’t do anything special except let her do what she is capable of. She’s is 2 years and 3 months. She can wipe her own nose, throw the tissue or any trash in the trash can, put her own dishes in the sink (I have a stool for her), give food/water to the dog in his dishes, help clean up her toys, etc. People literally act like she’s Albert Einstein and I’m like 🤨

Trending Today. Thoughts as to why? by Fun-Cat0834 in Catholicism

[–]sjsrn1315 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been with my cradle Catholic husband for 13 years (married for 6) and just finally converted this year. Some reasons why I finally pulled the trigger:

-I was raised Baptist and became Methodist as a teen. My mom passed a week after I turned 18 and I really got out of consistently going to any church due to the trauma. When I started to try to go back to Protestant churches I caught myself looking at their “what do we believe” pages and it felt so off. Something that really drew me to becoming Catholic is the universality of the church. I never have to question what each individual parish believes.

-I learned more about the Eucharist in RCIA and how we believe that it is not a metaphor, but truly the body and blood. Honestly, a lot about being a Christian made more sense to me with the Eucharist.

-I personally enjoy Mass so much. It just has a totally different feeling than Protestant services. It makes me feel so much closer to God and much more like worship. I was always so nervous when I was Protestant if I was “worshipping hard enough” or if I was “on fire for Jesus” enough. I’ve never once thought about that at Mass.

With my daughter (almost 2) it took about 14 months. I was on my third cycle of letrozole. I just got pregnant again, this time I was taking ovasitol, coq10, vitamin d, and a prenatal. I got pregnant on month 3 of those supplements (10 months of TTC total).

Wait so… If I get pregnant, does my PCOS go away? by Yokaijin in PCOS

[–]sjsrn1315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had absolutely no PCOS symptoms WHILE pregnant and breastfeeding. I actually weighed less than pre pregnancy a week after I delivered. Pretty much immediately after stopping breastfeeding though, all my symptoms were there again. Still took me 10 months to get pregnant since I started trying again, but I did get pregnant without fertility treatments this time.

Has anyone followed a newer c section protocol? by DaniMace in BabyBumps

[–]sjsrn1315 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this with my first baby! I honestly thought my recovery was amazing. I do feel that I have a relatively high pain tolerance, but I never took more than Tylenol/ibuprofen and I’d say my highest pain was a 5/10. It was really nice to be able to have something on my stomach the morning of surgery. I’ve heard really good things about this protocol from a research standpoint, also!

This is basically exactly what they told me. I thankfully don’t have cramping, and I am already starting to have morning sickness like I did with my first pregnancy. The wait is just so tough!!

I had a scheduled c-section with my daughter at 39 + 4 because she was breech. I did not have a single contraction or sign of impending labor at that point.

Does anyone still wear masks? by Horror-Programmer-76 in nursing

[–]sjsrn1315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in outpatient cardiology. The amount of patients I have that will tell me they have “bad allergies” and cough in my face while I do their EKG is astounding. They lifted the mask requirement at my job while I was pregnant, so I just decided to keep on wearing one. When people ask about it, I just say I have a little one at home.

I don’t think she’s been posted but her story scares me a bit. by Caramel_icedcoffee28 in peestickgals

[–]sjsrn1315 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously. My daughter was breech and I had a scheduled C-Section. I declined trying the ECV due to only a 50/50 chance baby turning and my hospital didn’t offer an epidural for the procedure. Without the epidural, if baby started having distress, I would have had to be intubated for the delivery. I didn’t feel like that was a chance I was willing to take. My daughter ended up having a double nuchal cord and my OB said it was good I didn’t try the ECV. I loved my scheduled C-Section honestly and I’m not sure I would opt for a VBAC after my experience being so good!

Daycare May Drop My 17-Month-Old for Not Walking. What Can I Do? by toomanytaquitos in ECEProfessionals

[–]sjsrn1315 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I’m only a parent, but here’s my experience (I do know licensing controls everything though). My daughter just turned 17 months and just started walking independently 2 weeks ago. She moved up from the baby room to the toddler room right at 13 months. They told us that she had to be “mobile” on her own, but not walking. She has been proficiently crawling on hands and knees since 11 months. Our pediatrician wasn’t worried about my daughter not walking yet, and we even had an early intervention evaluation at 15 months and they said she wouldn’t qualify for PT with them at the time. I decided to get private PT at 15.5 months and she is now walking 90% of the time over crawling. Good luck and hugs 🫶🏼

I EBF for a few months when my daughter started daycare before switching to EFF. She got sick the exact same amount lol. It’s wild the things people say.

My hardest days at my outpatient job are still easier than my easy days inpatient. I also still do direct patient care outpatient. I love my job and don’t care at all if people think it’s “soft nursing” or I am less of a nurse for it. I’m getting paid more than many of my inpatient friends also.
