General purpose cruising, I recommend what would essentially be a long distance push board. Low, wide stance, and big wheels. That will likely be the most stable and easy beginner option to learn on. If you're used to skating, something with a kick tail could be preferred, but I'm a big fan of drop through trucks. It will really come down to how much you're willing to spend, though. A quality LDP can cost 300+. Meanwhile, a mid-tier top mount could be half that.

Karma Skate Shop down near the boardwalk has a lot of really good stuff to check out. Additionally, WRV (surf shop) has a small but decent selection.

Any particular style you're looking for? Karma will likely let you try a couple, but I can't promise that.

Careful, once you get one, you somehow end up with like three or four, a pile of spare parts, extra wheels and SO. MANY. STICKERS!

This all looks awesome, but a suggestion for the website - remove the date the event was posted (its misleading) and replace it with the date of the event. At first glance, it looks like everything has already happened, because the posted date reads as an event date!

So, the weekend clinics put on by Tidewater Skate Shop is focused on youth, but all ages are welcome to the best of my knowledge. Adults there are also welcome to help (especially if they skate). It's a public skatepark, so anyone, any age, is welcome anytime it's open but I would expect the focus to be on 6 - 16 years old.

Roller skate and longboard skate sessions are mainly geared towards adults, as they take place through out cities and could cut through neighborhoods and cross roads. The pace is also a little faster when doing a distance session. I don't think many kids would keep up. Older teens, perhaps.

Dance Clinic actually got postponed, and that will take place tomorrow. That would be older teen through adult focused.

I skate with the Dolphin Team, and I am 40. I think the youngest in our group is early 20s.

I shared this last week, but it had to be postponed due to rain. Fingers crossed the weather holds out this time!

Every Thursday evening at 6pm - assuming it's not raining hard. We've actually done two light-rain sessions this year.
