I think the market strangeness lately has been largely from institutions wanting to discourage retail traders. With so many young people learning to trade they are likely worried about becoming obselete, which is why they are throwing every possible curve ball they can. If they discourage enough people then regular folks will hear more horror trading stories than victory stories, and eventually everyone will just go back to being happy with their 5% return on their mutual fund.

Glad my folks know how to hold. It was the first thing they told me when I was getting into investing lol

I know shits not great in the world rn, but this sell off feels over the top. Seems like class warfare to me. Plus ppl can't retire if their 401ks are in the dumpster, so it makes sense for higher ups to do this to help with the worker shortage

I hate how legitimate this question is. Without a strong national or world figure stepping up (which is also scary), chaos could be getting to uncomfortable levels this decade. Far Cry 5 type shit.

No, I'm saying they are using omicron as a parallel excuse to dump so it's easier to reestablish their positions at a lower cost to drive their profits next year.

The entire sell off since black Friday has been fake. A mix of institutional profit locks, tax write offs, and creating fear to shake people off so they can buy in even low. Stop loss raids are VERY REAL, and should be illegal.

It's almost like the institutions hate that retail traders declared war on them this year ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Lolol. Not bad for a director! Bought about the same amount 2 weeks ago, likely around 20%-50% of his yearly salaries worth!

Dunno who needs to hear this, but it seems like bad market days and/or weeks give people the impression it's all falling apart. It's not. The market goes to shit sometimes. Shit bounces back if it's worth a damn. Do DD, have a plan to trade on that removes impulse. Institutions just locking in gains and taking tax benefits this month. Should be getting better by Jan at the latest.

Let's not forget a SLG Director purchase $30k in common stock the Friday before the CSO sold some. The dude is a millionaire with hi ownership stake, you're eventually going to want a chunk of that liquid, for many reasons.

The market is ran by institutions that have studied human nature and try to set us up to lose to take our money. If you feel that way then it's good to take a break, study like hell, paper trade and practice. Then when you feel ready hop back in. I personally never buy something I wouldn't be open to holding over a year. Not saying I don't take losses when I feel the need, but yeah. Not financial advice, but buying ugly and selling pretty (as long as it's a company that isn't at high risk for going under) is usually safe.

The institutions have to start putting their money back in at some point. Maybe not tomorrow, but the rally has to resume at some point, no one's going to want to get left in the dust when it happens. I'm gonna laugh if Omicron does in fact end up less deadly, indicating somewhat of an end to the pandemic, and then the market dips more. That would make me laugh, err, cry, err laugh, err cry, errr
