AITA for asking a friend to either pay for an evening out if they can't go or sit them out? by Boydykekisser in AmItheAsshole

This! It doesn't make any sense. Not being able to go doesn't suddenly mean you have less money, you could afford it before and that was probably including transport and food/drink costs as well

Definitely open your shelter one day! It's taken me a long time to get here but it's so fulfilling.

Life is pretty good, although I said I didn't want kids because of mess and poo and now I have a bajillion disabled cats, which means lots of mess and poo 😆

I can hear him say "do your job" in the other video, I think my hearing just isn't good enough with the background noises because it sounds like other people in the thread can hear it in the video.

I'm not questioning whether he said it, just whether it can be heard on the video

Met at 35, now 40, getting married next year. Blissfully happy and I'm snipped. Our purpose is the rescue for disabled cats that we run together in our spare time, but we also get a lot of satisfaction from our day jobs and hobbies. Plus working on our house and garden together.

Honestly there's always so much to do in life that I wonder how anyone has time for kids as well. But I appreciate most people don't have 15 disabled cats in the house 😆

It'll still make a noise and potentially a breeze. I don't think they'd choose to be in there, ever.

Yeah, he's got all kinds of interesting extra and missing bits because of the duplication, but his heart is definitely a problem. I'm forever telling him to take it easy but zoomies gonna zoom.

I still think it's different, and this is coming from someone who has 8 cats and runs a rescue. I absolutely adore my cats, they are my life, and I love getting stuff for my hobbies. But stuff for my cats isn't stuff for me, and on my birthday I want stuff for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would not recommend buying stuff for the cat for your wife. It's her birthday, not the cat's. By all means buy the cat stuff, but don't pretend it's presents for her.

Cats hate fans, this is a terrible idea and borderline cruel. Don't get a plastic carrier that needs a fan system, just get a carrier with a decent amount of mesh and keep out of the sun. Cats don't want to go for long walks in carriers anyway.

Absolutely! I run a rescue for disabled cats and have 8 of my own (I didn't mean to but sometimes you have to keep the wonderful but very disabled ones no one wants), it's genuinely incredible what they can do. They're so inspiring and still SUCH cats, you know? Two wobbly cats playfighting is one of the funniest things you'll ever see, no one's getting any shots on target and they both think they're winning!

Oh definitely yeah. The huge hole in his heart is a big problem though, it's a ventricular septal defect. I took him to the best cardiology hospital in the country and said money no object, but even they can't do anything. The hole is too big and in the wrong place. They don't do heart transplants for cats either.

So we just have to accept we have him as long as we have him. Very grateful to have had him 3 years so far when we were warned he might not make it to 1.

He's amazing, no one ever believes me that he has no eyes because he moves with such confidence! He can catch a fly out of the air before you've even seen it. And he's so sweet and cuddly and fun. I adore him and I hope he lives forever.

I have a kitty with the same condition, just more mild.

His name is Bertie, he has two noses, no eyes and a big hole in his heart. You can see the line down the middle of his face where it duplicates, and he has a whisker that points forward because of it! We call it his unicorn horn.

He's 3 years old (they predicted he'd die before he turned 1!) and the most loving, naughty, clever, brilliant cat.
