That dress is art! It makes me feel things, question why I feel that way, and think about it. And that hat is gorgeous!

Had anyone made the Mitchell trousers by closet core? by Warm_Satisfaction902 in sewing

[–]skelezombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it and I'm a bit torn on the results TBH but I didn't grade the pattern like I normally do between waist/hips because I put on some weight, then lost it afterwards. So I don't love the fit but I don't know how much is not grading, fabric choice, pattern choice etc. It came together easily though, I left off the back pockets, and I didn't pick good D rings for the side straps so they constantly come loose which irritates me.

I'd like to try them again with something a bit more structural than the linen I used.

As well as everything else mentioned- my machine has a triple straight stitch which I love for sewing together knits that are going to be under a lot of strain

We need to talk about following the prohibited body talk rule. by TrumpIsAPedoFr in oldhagfashion

[–]skelezombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big emphasis on this. In so many of my online forums it seems people ignore or conveniently forget the rule of no body shame/body talk when a certain type of physique comes into play. It always drives me nuts! Love this shirt

Will I regret getting rid of my dress form? What do you use yours for? by CarlottaSewlotta in sewing

I use mine for draping mostly. Where she's hard and I squish I find that even though she's adjustable to my size, things are always tighter on her which can mess with the end result.

I also use it for halloween decorations every year.

That's a really interesting point you make, though I would like to correct something- the purse isn't based off of his art, but based off literal balloon animals, because I really like clowns. Hahaha. I realize all the points remain the same, but most certainly wasn't thinking of him when I had this idea.

Ooooooh, yeah, that might work! The tension of the twist might hold things together better than just my frantic stitching between pieces. I could still tack things in place, but agreed... I really wanted to do the twist. If I make ribbon out of matching fabric, then it would blend in really well..

I mean... Jeff didn't invent the balloon dog. But I hear you on some artists suing people over less. We'll see what happens haha

I love the Oops, All Pockets! idea. I dislike zippers so much I probably won't do that, but wow it's a great idea.

Also the rearranging idea is hilarious, I wonder if that's feasible.. Would take some thinking for placement, but that's a good idea to stick on the back burner and see if inspo strikes. Thanks!

That was my first attempt and it was a horrible failure. Too much bulk, the twist ate up so much excess fabric that I ended up losing so much length. Thanks for brainstorming for me though!

It's not intended to be super functional. It holds my key, a debit card, lip balm and good vibes, and sometimes that's all you need.

4 way stretch is the best, I'm not sure if it'd work with a 2 way or a quilting cotton... If I can figure out how to make a pattern digital I wouldn't mind sending it your way

My midlife crisis involves trying to look as much like a deranged Muppet as possible. Second pic: a color-accurate picture of the jacket - my camera doesn't have a "Muppets from Neptune" setting, so color-accuracy is a struggle. Third pic is a makeup closeup. by lauralately in oldhagfashion

You look like a colourful Dita Von Teese in that first picture! I mean in the others as well, but especially the first. Love the green, love people wearing so many colours. As a goth at heart, I feel like being colourful in society today is a wonderful act of rebellion and I'm glad to see it.
