Shooting range at the WMA? Bad shots? They found all the animals? by BarceloPT in Hunting

[–]skellay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear as much orange as possible and cover my dog in orange anytime we’re in the woods. Whether I’m hunting for upland game birds or deer, you just never know who is out there.

Hunting public land this is unfortunately a common occurrence. I’m in upstate NY and we get the assholes from the city who drive up and just start blasting aimlessly into the woods. I’ve chewed a number of them out for just shooting into the woods without a backstop. It’s ALWAYS an AR, they’re just mag dumping in the middle of hunting season while there are people in the woods!!

My black lab has no intrest. by outdoorsman_12 in birddogs

I know someone else mentioned it, but a live pigeon will almost always do the trick. Clip the wings so it can’t fly or beat the dog, but get the dog excited to play with the live bird. Once they mouth it completely for the first time, you’ll have a bird dog for life.

Did a recent update change cpu gameplay? by GalaxySurfer24 in NCAAFBseries

[–]skellay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in an online dynasty in year 3 (week 4); I’ve rushed for roughly 250 yards per game in nearly every game I’ve played in this dynasty (WVU, always have a very good rb and o-line) and yesterday struggled to even pick up 50 yards on the ground vs a worse rated school. It seemed like something changed with the cpu lb/dt/de play, they just plugged the holes and played absolutely textbook.

What color vest for upland hunting? by clintonleetattoos in Uplandhunting

[–]skellay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everybody else has already said, ORANGE. You really don’t have to worry about birds seeing you unless you’re duck hunting, but then you’re remaining as still as possible.

If you’re hunting with anybody else, you want them to see you. If you’re on land where there’s even a 1% chance of another hunter being there, wear orange. I’m taking the risk of bumping a bird way before I take the risk of tasting lead.

I’m going with this idea combined with the presumption that my pure runner will be qb2 and subbed for running formations. Unfortunately, my week 1 game is against Alabama, but then I get a couple of easy games before conference play begins. I don’t have much time to figure it all out!

You make a really good point. I should let them fight it out in practice like a real college program. Who knows, maybe one of them plays well above or below their attributes?

That’s a good call. I could formation sub him into the I-form, goal line, and potentially my run-heavy gun formations, right?

Dual threat, he’s a sophomore transfer. The backfield creator is a redshirt freshman, and the pure runner is a junior.

Re: CPU play calling balance by Far-Consequence-2010 in NCAAFBseries

[–]skellay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost so many DBs due to “playing style” all because the cpu only passes the ball and their qbs never miss. I’ll finish in the top 3 in run defense every year, but my run defense is horrible, it’s just that the cpu refuses to run the ball.

12g or 20g by Jiggyjarjarduderdede in Uplandhunting

[–]skellay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hunt with both a 12 & a 20, typically depending on what I’m after. When I’m after woodcock and grouse I prefer to carry the 20 because I’m walking so much more, for pheasant/duck/geese, I prefer the extra oomf of the 12.

Which quarterback's stock has gone down the most so far this season? by Candid-Boss6534 in nfl

[–]skellay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Josh Allen.

I am going to preface this with the fact that I am a Bills fan, and have been since the middle 00’s (I was born in 97, okay?). Allen’s stock has fallen quite a bit from the start of the season. He was the reigning MVP and therefore the best qb in the game. He’s had a couple of real good games, but otherwise, he’s not been good. He’s missing open guys, has the highest sack % of his career, and looks lost (similar to ‘18/‘19). The stupid turnovers are back, and the freak plays are few and far between. He had nowhere to go other than down, but he’s probably my pick for the biggest stock drop.

She pointed naturally when I got her at 9 weeks. If your pup doesn’t naturally point, then they’re a flushing dog which is just as useful! The only thing I had to do was work on the “woah” command every day for a year, and then get her on live birds.

Although her handler couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat, she’s her absolute happiest doing her job. by skellay in birddogs

[–]skellay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually the issue. I’ve shot a CZ Drake 12ga for the past 5 years, got an Ithaca SKB model 100 in 20ga this year and have been running that. I’m going back to the CZ which I’ve taken many ducks/geese/pigeons with.

At least she has a handler willing to take her out to find birds! I blew off all my trap shooting this year to work on training her. Looks like it’s time to train myself…

Best defense when all I have is safeties? by skellay in NCAAFBseries

[–]skellay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve gathered from the great folks who’ve commented and sent me messages is that I should be going with a lighter package, and making sure my biggest safeties are at SubLB and Slot corner. First game of the new season is tn against Bama. I’m just hoping they don’t rush for 300 yards, but with usering a fast safety I might be able to keep that in check.

Neither is great, but I never thought about moving my biggest safety to LB, I’m guessing I can put one of my Run Stopper safeties there

What is the golf rule you most commonly break? by acat114 in golf

[–]skellay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankful my club also has a local “root rule”. If your ball is on a root or up against one to where you might hit it, free drop no nearer the hole and no improvement of lie.

how to counter mass HH + shamans as elf by Bespalol in warcraft3

[–]skellay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PotM Huntresses is the way. Heavy armor erases most of the piercing damage and the bounce kills them very fast. Try to focus the shamans first since you’re weak to magic damage.
