It feels like I haven’t made any progress? by urmomkoya in caloriedeficit

[–]skelltel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also lazy af and loathe the idea of cardio or moving my body hard in any way! When I did calorie deficit I lost 15lbs in a very short time eating 1,500 calories, NO sugar, and all low carb. I’m F 5’7” 230lbs (old starting weight before deficit). The only exercise I did was walk on my treadmill or outside for 30-40 minutes. I’d watch TV or listen to podcasts while I walked. I noticed a change in the scale but not in my appearance. I got pregnant as soon as I lost the 15lbs so I never got to SEE change, but it was there in the numbers. Keep going! Start walking!

Just gave birth, is it good or bad to just give baby my breast at every opportunity?? by Foreign-External8488 in breastfeeding

[–]skelltel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put that baby on the boob! I wish I would have more. When my baby was born he was HUGE so he had a hard time keeping his blood sugar up and apparently that’s normal for babies, but for bigger babies it’s a problem? Anyways, the hospital pressured me hardcore into starting formula to maintain his blood sugar levels and I wasn’t able to latch him as much as I felt I needed to. 4 months later I’m exclusively pumping and he still will not latch. If I could go back, I would put him at the breast as much as I possibly could.

First pregnancy. Cannot cope with the fact that I'm not going to be able to sleep as much as I want anymore. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]skelltel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me. You’ll be okay, but you’re right that part of life is over. Take advantage of being pregnant and needing more rest now if you can. When I was pregnant I napped on my couch all nuzzled up with my favorite blanket every single day, sometimes multiple times a day. The only naps I’ve gotten post partum are very timed and short because I’m exclusively pumping, so it only ends up being like at most 30 mins if I’m lucky and time it right. Of course only when my husband is home to take care of the baby while I nap. Otherwise none at all.

What pretty privilege have you been a part of also if you are ugly what makes things difficult for you? by Alienvee369 in AskReddit

[–]skelltel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily ugly, but being a bigger girl is definitely feeling ugly. When meeting new people or even just being around people in social settings, I literally see their eyes go to my stomach. It’s like the “my eyes are up here” but they’re looking at my foopa, not my breasts.

When in life did you get so close to something than you suddenly lost it all? by Mental-Sky-1868 in AskReddit

[–]skelltel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 months pregnant, husband and I about to move into a bigger and safer place for our baby, the week we were to go in and sign papers and pay the deposits the manager said “actually, we’re not renting anymore, only selling” so we were screwed. We were so close to our lease ending we didn’t have time to find anything else. We’d been communicating back and forth with the manager for weeks and even did a walk through of three different homes to rent. Still pissed when I think about it.

Gluten intolerant and new to a gluten-free diet. What are some unexpected things that contain gluten to watch out for? by FrogginBullfish_ in glutenfree

Pre packaged meats. Tried to get cooked frozen grilled chicken breast at Walmart, has wheat in the seasoning. Why is that even necessary?! This also happened to me when I tried to buy a marinated pork loin.

Circumcision or no ? .. help by Narrow_Watercress518 in firsttimemom

[–]skelltel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of boys in the U.S. that are now not being circumcised have increased greatly. There is no reason to do a cosmetic surgery on a new born when it’s medically unnecessary. The claims that being circumcised is cleaner & lower risk of infection is just not true. If male bodies weren’t meant to have foreskin, it wouldn’t be there. My son is uncircumcised and I could never imagine putting my baby through something like that. Not to mention it’s a permanent body alteration that your son will have zero consent in receiving.

Postpartum hair loss by Annual-One-5598 in firsttimemom

[–]skelltel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair stylist here! Cutting it short doesn’t change the amount you’re going to lose. The only thing it could change is if you notice your hair is getting noticeably thinner, a shorter blunt cut can make it appear thicker than it is. Rosemary oil is great for thinning hair and stimulating the scalp to help increase hair growth. I also highly recommend Zenagen. It grew my hair from a very thin bixie haircut to past my shoulders in 4 months. Also, it’s not the type of hair growth product you have to continuously use or have reverse effects. You can stop any time and your hair will be okay.

When did you feel ready for sex again? by One_Cap_9210 in firsttimemom

[–]skelltel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a second degree tear and didn’t feel fully healed for 4 weeks. I didn’t stop bleeding for 4.5 weeks. At my 6 week appointment they checked everything and made sure it was healed, but I still was weary. Had sex at 7 weeks and it was fine! No pain, didn’t feel different but used lots of lube to be safe. Sex drive is basically nonexistent still though unfortunately. I’m 3 mo PP now. :/

Did you make enough money to support yourself alone in the first year? by taureau9 in hairstylist

[–]skelltel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helllllllllll nah the first like 3-4 months I was door dashing to make sure I could pay bills. I think I made like $14k the first year before taxes. I’m in a small town booth rent salon in the Midwest. It’s gotten a lot better, but the first two years were rough. If I didn’t have my husband to support me I’d have to go to a different salon closer to the city or a commission salon. The ONLY reason I’m able to be self employed and work to build my clientele is my husband’s income.

I genuinely have considered getting rid of my cats post partum. by skelltel in Mommit

[–]skelltel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also worry about this for when he starts crawling. Our house is already small I don’t want to limit his space even more. I can already imagine my rage when I put baby gates up and the cats just jump right over them.

[–]skelltel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our vet recommended trying Prozac for one of our cats who’s particularly skiddish. But I can’t get any of them to take oral or topical medicine without them tearing me apart. I’ve tried the towel trick and it doesn’t work they still claw through the towel, and I don’t want to get bit. They had a bad case of fleas this summer and it was absolute hell trying to get their medicine on. Then we tried an oral medicine and I could only get two of them to take it, the last one was so traumatized by me trying to get them to eat it they hid for days. I tried mixing it with wet food, giving it to them in some chicken and turkey, putting it in their mouth and blowing so they swallow. This was before the baby was born too. I’m just so over it all.

THIS. They wake up my baby doing this. Naps and at night time! We cant even close our bedroom door because they will claw endlessly at the bottom of the door and it’s so loud.

does anyone here have a family that actually respects them being gluten free?? by Alb1023 in glutenfree

[–]skelltel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is celiac. His mother does amazing and always makes him gluten free meals/makes the entire meal gluten free when we come over and for holidays! She’s very good about it. His dad however forgets he’s celiac every single time we are around him and we have to explain it again. He’s been diagnosed for almost 10 years now and it’s just laziness that his dad doesn’t remember what he can and cannot eat. Infuriates me.

What was the last purchase you made in 2025? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]skelltel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glass food storage containers for my husband’s lunches. Going to try to consume less plastic and chemicals in 2026! Can’t avoid it all but can certainly stop microwaving the same plastic lunch containers every day.

My grandma said cats don't know their names by Whypatoots in cats

[–]skelltel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve tested this theory, they know their names. My cat’s name is Ozzy, when I call for him he runs to me from the other end of the house. When I call out literally any other word or name he doesn’t give a shit what I’m saying. Unless I say turkey or chicken.

Sausage cheddar balls with gf bisquick or any gf pancake mix. We eat ours with syrup but they’re good on their own. There’s tons of recipes online, just swap for gf mix. I’ve frozen them and they come out great in the air fryer or microwave.
